Purest Shot of My Life

The winter finally took a break on January 17, 2017 in Southern California. We were blessed with a sunny and beautiful day at Oak Quarry Golf Club. I had been striking the ball well through 4 holes but some unlucky breaks (aka poor shots) found me at 4 over after doubling number 4. Frustrated I pulled up to Hole 5 named "Marble Ridge". I assumed its name came from the 300 foot fall Ridge carved out behind the green. The pin was blue and in the back left; a sucker pin for sure. At 202 yards, I normally hit a hybrid club but I had been striping my irons pure to that point and the green was well below us. To clear the guarding bunker was about a 170 yard carry. I chose a 6 iron which was a fairly consistent club for me. I set up, pulled back and passed through the ball. The feeling was nothing short of my purest strike. I peered up and my Titleist Pro V1 was headed straight at the hole never leaving the flagstick. My 2 buddies and I are jokingly calling for the ball to "go in the hole today". Sure enough, it landed just over the bunker onto the green about 8 feet short of the hole and quietly disappeared into the bottom of the cup. Shocked with disbelief, we fist pumped, belly pumped and made the customary and immediate call to the cart girl for drinks all around. What a moment. A moment shared with friends. A moment never forgotten. A purest golf shot when player, club and ball came together in the most perfect shot. A moment I will treasure forever.
