How often do you replace your wedges?

    Hi!

    I have been gaming the same Cleveland wedges (52-56-60) for the last 3 seasons. I love them and am very comfortable with them.

    I have seen how these clubs should be replaced every 50-60 rounds. I'm no pro, and not rich... so no. But I have played at least 300 rounds with them. They are dinged up pretty good -- but the grooves feel decent.

    Am I making life harder for myself with these clubs?

    Depends on what you want out of your wedges. If you like to be creative and work the ball, there's nothing like a fresh set of grooves.

    The 60-75 round rule takes into account the change in spin and launch. With degradation of the groves the ball can ride up the face and launch higher. As well as not check up as well due to lower spin. The impact is gradual so across 3 years you wouldn’t notice month to month.
    While I would recommend Vokey replacements as those groves are leading in longevity, you could go to a retailer and use their tracking device and compare spin and launch between a new model and your current. You can then decide if one or more of your wedges are past their use value.
    Not sure what the last loft of your irons are, but 52-56-60 wedges line up with a set PW of 48 degrees. Most iron sets are now 43-46 degrees leaving room for a lower lofted gap wedge.

    Generally every two years is a reasonable estimate for the weekend warriors. You can feel how sharp your grooves are with your fingers. Newer wedge will provide better spin results.

    I usually keep my wedges for the range and use new wedge for rounds. Hope that helps!
