New Iron/Wedge Combo

    I recently purchased a new set of irons and wedges from Titleist. I wanted to give it some time before jumping in here and commenting though. I went with T150 4-9 and SM10 46-50-54-58. I know there is a large gap between my 9 and the 46. The gap is little bit more than I may have wanted or expected, but I haven't had any issues so far. I've magically landed right within my distances and not been in-between on those clubs. Now, with saying that, I have been debating either purchasing a hybrid 3 or taking the step to purchase the T150 Pitching wedge (44 degrees). Again, in the past 2 months of having the clubs I can't remember needing a club to close that distance but merely wondering what the better option would be, more options at long range or having the extra couple of yards at short range.

    Playing these last few months with the new irons/wedges has been some of my best golf in recent years. They have renewed my love of the game and given me a more competitive spirit while playing with the VGA. I made the switch to T150 and SM10s because my other clubs were more than 10 years old. A mixed set of vokeys (52 56 and 60) and the 710 AP2s (3-P).

    If anything, I turn heads. Looking good is half the battle! haha

    Great to hear you have a set that feels comfortable to you. As for our advice, we all have different set ups based on our own swings and needs. The only thing that matters is what you put in your bag to fill gaps. I’m sure you will figure it out without us possibly steering you the wrong way. Wishing you many great rounds with your new sticks.

    It’s also what you are capable of hitting. I can’t hit a 3 wood or 6 iron. I can hit 19 and 21 fairways. Mediocre with a 23 hybrid.

    I played 5W-9W-27H up till 2014. The issue is Callie 9W have a flatter lie angle.

    The TSR1 23 fairway is the missing link in my golf game. Hit the front of the green on an uphill par 3 last week. Yesterday it was terrorizing the fairways. The photo is my 2nd shot on a 391 yard par 4. Plus it is easy to hit off an uneven lie. 40.5” shaft.

    Great job - getting fit then turning your new tools into 'weapons'.
    We've probably all been there - thinking "will something else be better?"... My opinion, if you're not finding any issues with your gapping, stick with it. If a gap presents itself, you can always bend the 46* stronger to get a few more yards.
    If you go 150 PW @ 44*, you might open another gap to your 50* and need that closer to 48*, which might open another gap to your 54*... see the cycle overthinking creates? (we've all been there)
    For the money, I would experiment with the top of the bag given you've taken care of the bottom (irons and wedges).

    No biggie gap between 9 and 46 (39* and 46*). My wedge gapping is 46-52-58-64. If you need an in between shot, choke down. I have a T200 8 iron (bent to 33*). I can’t hit a 6 iron worth crap so I’ve learned to choke down 1/2” to hit a 150-160 shot.

    The 9 wood closed the gap between the 5 wood and 27H. I carried 7W-27H and I used to choke down 1/2” for 175.
