    Hey Team Titleist,

It’s time for another quick poll! We want to know, would you prefer to hit the ball 5 yards longer off the tee or 5-feet closer to the hole? Let us know in the quick poll below and feel free to add a comment to share some more about your selection.

I’d much rather throw darts than bombs…makes putting easier as well

When you really think about it, does it really matter. Five yards closer, how would that affect your short game? Would you now have to lay off instead of hitting a full shot. Hitting a driver five yards longer, is that carry or roll out? Would give yards really make that much of a difference at our level? On a par three, it definitely would.
  4. Adding 5 yards gives me a shorter club to hit it closer.
  5. I voted five feet closet, but on further reflection, I would probably still three-putt! So . . .
  6. If I hit it 5 yards further , I may then be able to hit it 5 feet closer
  7. I voted 5 yards closer, putting is a strength, but the only number that matters is in the hole.

Not sure I would have imagined it to be such a big difference on the preference. This based upon what I see on the course with everyone trying to hit so much further.

According to PGA stats the average 90 golfer makes 20% of putts from 10’
    And 50% from 5’

So for me the answer is an easy one
  10. To hit the ball 5yrd longer does not get you a very much lower score at the end of the round. But when you hit it 5yrds closer to the hole that will give you more pars, birdies and even eagles now that is how to lowering you score and handicap. Closer to the pin is what keeps bringing me back to the game I love.
  11. Closer is best always

I’d sacrifice up to 1 approach club distance(+\- 15 yds) on my drives to be consistently putting from 5 ft closer.

Golf is about scoring. Closer to the hole leads to greater scoring opportunities.

The obvious answer “5 ft closer to hole”. But being a Titleist Pro V1 can’t improve/change the swing with which I strike the ball, I’ll take the 5 yards.

I'm an average golfer. I'll take 5 feet closer anytime
  16. My vote is for closer - until the ball restriction is implemented.
  17. Definitely closer to the pin.

To me 5yds further off the tee just increases the chance of being between clubs, and you still need to hit the green. Putting is where it counts, so if you can be 5ft closer every time significantly decreases that dreaded 3 putt, thus improving scores.

But, if the options changed to 10 yds longer or 5 ft closer, I might have to reconsider. I'd like to think I could hit it at least 5' closer with a shorter club into the green!

Distance has never been a problem in my game. Blessed with a strong back and good knees. Getting closer to the on and lowering my scores is my main focus now.
Hoping to get a fitting for SM9 wedges and learn which lofts maximize my swing and add versatility around the greens.
  21. Closer to the hole is always better for a lower score but distance would help to get closer to the hole most of the time to make the shot easier to make.
