  1. First of all WOW and thanks for the response to my last thread! 'BEST COURSES IN SCOTLAND' Had 46 replies and 96k views!! so a lot of help for everyone in there.. but most of all me!.

Thanks to that I have a trip planned up there playing some on the east and west of scotland to play some of the less known courses that people have suggested!

I was wondering if there are any unique courses in the highlands that people have enjoyed in the past? If so i would be grateful to know!

Little image to enjoy from the open (and yes i love scottish golf)

  2. It’s been a while since I’ve played it, but Boat of Garten is a simply stunning course. It’s another beautiful creation by James Braid. It may not appear on the normal golf tours of Scotland but it should. Just watch out for the steam trains whistle in your backswing.
  3. have had a look intot this looks great will go on the hit list

My home club, Elgin Golf Club is a cracker. It is not a links course so it often gets missed and there a number of inferior links courses placed ahead of it on ranking lists but it is well worth a visit. Classic, heathland golf situated in the heart of whisky country…perfect for any visitor!
  7. This does look good, will get this added on!!

If you are ever up this way, please just feel free to shoot me a message, I'd be more than happy to sign you on if I was available to :)
  9. Royal Dornoch and Castle Stuart. Royal Dornoch may be the best course on the planet. Mike Keiser used Royal Dornoch as the model for Bandon Dunes. Dornoch is also home to the famous Golf Course Architect Donal Ross. Its a must play for anyone visiting the area. Castle Stuart is also a fantastic course that I highly recommend. I would love to play both again.

I'm a member of Moray Golf club and is an absolute beauty of a course. Good links with unique features like landing lights for the RAF.

Nearby there is elgin, forres, Castle Stuart, Hopeman, Fortrose, dornoch, brora and Golspie. All of which are great as well
  11. great thanks for that!!

Brora is my absolute favorite course in the Highlands. Greens are awesome, great pace, loads of character and locals on the course. If I could play one course over and over in Scotland (non-Old Course category obviously) it would easier be Brora.

Golspie is also a wonderful walk and a beautiful play to play.

Fortrose as well, the day we were there it was blowing 40 and raining so would like another look.

Castle Stuart was just behind Brora, fun layout, great people and pace, would love to go back.

Have played Royal Dornoch twice, its a great course but both time, 2018 and 2023 it felt like we were just being hurried through. We didn't have caddies and were matched with players that did and that was an absolute nightmare. But the course is beautiful and challenging, just loads of tourists that has taken away some charm. Its worth playing and maybe a must play if in the area but I just be aware its busy.

  13. great insight there thanks.. will have to look up brora as not heard of that but sounds great.. steadily formulating a list :)
  14. When I explored the Scottish Highlands, the courses that stood out were Royal Dornoch and Castle Stuart Golf Links. Both offer stunning landscapes and challenging play. As for desert safari dubai, it's an entirely different adventure, but if you ever shift gears to warmer sands, it's a must-try! Enjoy your golfing journey in the Highlands.
