I will be in Largo, FL the day after Christmas and was wondering good couses in the area. Streamsong and TPC are a bit far. Someone said Innisbrook, but looking at the website, it looks like you have to stay there to play there. Any help with other good courses around would be helpful. Thanks!

Pinellas County has a lot of public courses, but nothing spectacular. Bardmoor is generally above average, and a few in Tarpon Springs are probably better right now. Crescent Oaks is usually good, right around the corner is Fox Hollow. Lansbrook will have great greens, the rest of the course can be rough. Innisbrook gets a little funny this time of year, and much more expensive. They're re-doing the Copperhead clubhouse/building and you usually have to be a guest of the resort to play it this time of year, unless you have a connection. Island course is very good, I'm sure you can get on there. Rumor has it, we're possibly losing the Valspar event when this contract expires. I'd get you on at my club, Southern Hills Plantation, but kind of a haul from Largo. For basic public, for some exercise, Cove Cay and ChiChi's are playable, tricky little tracks, average conditions.

Like Edward said, there are quite a few courses in Pinellas. Even more should you choose to drive a bit. Outside of Crescent Oaks, Fox Hollow and Lansbrook, you can look to Dunedin Golf Club, Westchase, Eagles Golf Club (36 Holes), and Clearwater Country Club which are all good tracks. You will be in the height of the Season down here.

If you are a member of a course at home, you may want to have the pro call down to some of the private clubs in the area. Cypress Run, Countryside CC and Ardea CC (Old East Lake Woodlands) would be closest to you.
