I was on a work trip to San Diego, CA, and had planned to take some customers out to Torrey Pines. We played the North Course on Monday, and spent the day searching for golf balls in the deep rough as well as dodging off and on rain. On Tuesday (Feb 5th) we teed off on the South Course at 7:30, and we’re met with rain, wind, and sun 50 temps again. After the 5th hole, the sun came out and the afternoon was fantastic. The golf during those first few holes was a little frustrating. I missed the first seven greens, and decided to change golf balls on #8. After marking the ProV1X with my traditional black line, I teed it up from 146, and hit my 9 iron solid. The ball tracked just right of the pin located in the front left portion of the green. Didn’t think anything of it as you can’t see the hole from this tee. Walking up to the green, I didn’t see anything on the green. The other members of my group playfully joked it might be in. After looking short and long of the green, I approached the pin. I noticed a ball mark just right of the pin, and for a moment thought it had to be in. Looking inside the cup, my heart was pounding, and saw that Titleist script staring back at me. So much joy and excotement, I didn’t know my partner was videoing the entire moment. The rest of the round had ups and downs, but i’ll never forget my moment at Torrey Pines South.
