Taming the Beast

Took many years to hit it, but I had my first hole-in-one yesterday. Was playing a decent round, but not my best. Came to #11 at Connemara, a hole that I don't think anyone likes. The green is only 10-12yds deep. A ravine in the front and up-slope in the back. Green slopes back to front. Hit it long, and you'll be lucky to hold the green on the way back. Hit it short, you're down in the ravine. The hole was playing 144 yards (we were playing from the blues). Hit my 8-iron. Not the cleanest of shots, and was off line a few degrees. Wasn't one of those shots where you think you have a shot a hole-in-one. Ball landed in the fringe on the front and took one big bounce. The hit must have generated some spin as it started tracking to the right once it landed on the green. When the ball started rolling, we all just thought it would be a nice shot. None of us expected it to go in. Then all of the sudden, it hit the pin and dropped out of site. We all realized it was a hole-in-one! It was the next hole when I think it started to really sink in. I was going to have to keep the scorecard with the ball! Now I was worrying what I was going to card on the back!
