Go! Go!

I was playing with a buddy and three randoms when we hit the 6th at Costa Mesa Country Club's Los Lagos course. Big uphill par 3, dead into the wind, 184 on the zapper, bunkers short right and long left, the flag dead over the middle of the bunker. I've only been playing for about 4 years and I'm around a 12 handicap, so my long irons are not my strength. I wanted to keep it low and a bit of a cut to hold it against the wind, so I choked down on my 3 wood. A nice, smooth half-backswing and a poke forward. It's a rope, dead at it; it checked once about 6 feet short of the hole, and disappeared. It was uphill, so we didn't have a clear view of the hole, so maybe it went over the back of the green? My group swears it went in, but you never know. We walk up and there's the pitch mark, still no ball. I reach the hole and look in, and there's my Pro V1x staring up at me. I was SO pumped. One of the guys we were playing with is scratch, and he only has one; another guy is at least in his 60s and he said he has only had one, about 25 years ago. Wild. The drink cart came by just as we were walking off the green, and she pretended to be excited for me, and I bought a round of drinks. The rest of the round was pretty "meh" but I couldn't have cared less. Great day!
