On to the Next One

Hector’s will probably be my most memorable hole in one I’ve seen. I was the only one to see the ball go in the hole. Hector quit watching it after he knew it was a good shot. The other two golfers from our foursome were in the golf carts because they had a different tee box and couldn’t see the shot. Winter sun, low sky, hazy/glazy. I had just tee’d off and hit what I thought was a good shot. I couldn’t see mine hit the green though. So I watched Hector’s extra close, and even more so after I saw his was tracking. I saw his ball hit the green, bounce, roll toward the hole (slowly, slowly, greens were really fast) and then disappear. But with the haze/glaze I wasn’t 100% sure if it was in the hole, or behind the flag stick. Before we walked off the tee I told Hector, “I think that went in the hole.” He said something along the lines of if it did, that will be the best hole in one I never saw. I get to my cart and told my dad, I think Hector just holed out. The other two players teed off, we drive up to the green, Hector gets out of his cart, grabs his putter and starts walking to the green. I’m looking and don’t see Hector’s ball. I saw mine about 20ft from the pin. At that point I was sure his was in the hole. It was a special moment. Now on to the next one!
