My Third Hole-in-one
By Ronald T On 18 January 2019
On a beautiful, sun shiny day in The Villages, FL, my two friends and I played one of the most recently laid out executive golf courses in The Villages venue called Gray Fox. Hole #5 is a 146 yard par 3, for which I used a 7 iron to make the shot. The pin was located in the back of the green, thus making the shot more like a 150 yards to the pin. I had a beautiful, high floating shot into the green, which landed about middle way, and then continued to roll until it was out of my line of sight. I heard a "clunk like" sound, and my playing partner thought the ball had indeed holed out. It was quite a thrill to approach the green and see my ball laying at the bottom of the cup.
This is my third hole-in-one since 1965, and at age 77, in which I've used a Titleist ball, and the fact that I holed out a 150 yard shot with a 7 iron made me think that I've still got a lot of golf left in me before I need to begin hitting from the forward tees. Unfortunately, neither my playing partners, nor I had the idea to take a photo of the scorecard or the ball in the hole.
