Old Yeller

My wife and daughter looked to be coming down with a cold and the main sewer line from the house was clogged. I was about to call off a last minute invite to play Biltmore Forest Golf Club in Asheville NC but the weather report was showing Mid 60’s and sunny. I did what any of you would do. Called a plumber and packed my bags. The rough is Zoysia and the first day I lost a couple balls in first cut so I bought my first box of yellow Pro V1 Titleist golf balls. The next day on #9 a 155 yard par 3 I hit my first hole in one with a nine iron. My lovely wife congratulated through a horse voice and slight cough as I made my way home down I-26. She told me the root in the main line was being removed and my daughter was already feeling better. A slight touch of remorse settled on me for a moment as I contemplated their past 48 hours and the juxtaposition. Then like it was all happening again I watched old yeller land on a set of butterfly wings an then like a leaf on a lazy river float, float, floating and gone. #worthit
