Career No. 2

Got to play Moody Gardens yesterday, perfect temperature, with a little wind. Played a friendly stroke play match with my father in law for his birthday. I was down 3 going into 17 and making a little rally having birdied 15 and making par on 16. I sized up the hole noting quite a bit of hurt wind and elevation. Hole measures 135 but I think it’s playing more like 150-155. So I choose to go with a 9 iron and just hit my normal shot. Set up for a tiny draw. Swing. Contact feels pure. Ball takes the intended flight and is tracking onto the flag. At this point I’m happy I made solid contact and got the flight I was looking for. Then... the ball lands 1 ft right of the hole and slowly creeps left. I hold my breath in anticipation. The ball disappears. Hat, 9 iron, hands all go straight into the air. So awesome to get to have this moment and share it with my father in law!
