Watching Over Me

This year on November 13, I was fortunate to make my third Hole-in-One on the 15th hole at Ptarmigan Country Club. This was my first HIO since 1992, which was obviously a long time ago. On November 13, 1994, 25 years ago, my daughter Lise, was driving from a weekend visit to our Fort Collins, Colorado home back to the University of Colorado, Boulder where she was a member of the Women's Golf Team. This date became the worst day of my life. When the HIO happened, all I could think, was how could this happen today, of all days? As I thought about it, it came to me that this was more than just a good shot that luckily went in. It was too much of coincidence to be explained that way. To think that this happened 25 years to the day of the accident, makes me believe that Lise was watching and sending a very clear message of love. As a high school student she had competed on the Fort Collins Golf Team where I was the coach from 1991 to 2008. Golf was a special bond that we shared. Having played golf for over 50 years, this will always be the greatest and most memorable experience of my life. I am convinced Lise was watching and feeling her presence will never leave me.
