The Bank is Open

This was my second career ace, I did not register my first hole in one, but it was just as special and actually even more because I was playing with my son and two friends in the Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce golf outing scramble. It was our team's last hole of the day, the par 3 #11th hole on the Michaywe' Pines course. I stepped up to the tee and hit first for our team. I hit a 7-iron, a bit thin by the way, but it was right at the pin the whole way and after landing on the front of the green it rolled directly at the pin. My son said "This looks like it has a chance", then the ball disappeared and we started celebrating. It was a bit unconventional because when we got up to the green the hole-in-one official witness (there was a hole-in-one prize = a new set of Cobra irons) said my ball lipped out and then hit/banked-off the Closest to Pin proximity marker which was only 2" directly behind the cup, and then bounced back into the hole! Our team made some money $ on the skin, the only skin of the day, but the best part was winning a new set of irons for my son who is about to start his collegiate golf career. I bought a keg of beer for all the golf outing participants to enjoy and I personally thanked the previous Closest to the Pin proxy holder who put the proxy stake 2" behind the hole which obviously helped me get the ace.
