The shot heard round the course.

Like most hole-in-one stories, this one was very unexpected. On the first hole of a scramble tournament on a hole I very much dislike on most days, not this day for obvious reasons. The 17th at Beaver Meadow CC in Concord, NH (603) a par 3 (165 yard)up hill all the way on a 45 degree day, dressed like and idiot I dropped in a miracle. I pulled a Titleist AP2 7 iron and just tried to throw one up on the green and put a good swing on it. Well, low and behold it goes in and my sister, wife and I never saw it go in. But a friend my sister brought did, Nick Weber is his name and he turns to me after I lose sight of it, hey do you get a lot of those and I looked at him stupidly and replied get a lot of what?? Hole in ones he says and I say no and I’m not sure what you mean. He says, that went in and you’re acting pretty cool and relaxed for hitting one. That’s when I say no no no, it’s probably in there tight and we can’t see it because it’s up hill. We take off for the green and don’t see it on the green anywhere and I’m still in disbelief to the point that my wife and I actually looked behind the green in the first cut of rough to see if possibly it one hopped off the back, but only for a few minutes we looked and then turned towards each other and then looked at the hole to say is it... BAM there it was nestled at the bottom of the cup. First ever and on my nemesis of a hole. It only cost a cool $450.00 but totally worth it for the allure of the event is too great to worry about the cost of drinks I had to pay for. All the while I was dressed like Richard Simmons, “SWEAT IT OUT!”
