Ain’t No Record Book
By KKayden On 30 November 2019
I stepped up to the tee at hole number 5, par 3, 170 yards over a pond at Countryland Golf Course in Cumming, GA. I was with a friend whom had never played the public, cheap, but fun golf course. I pulled out my 6 iron and hit a clean shot. It flew high and bounced twice on the green before I lost it. My contacts were blurry that day and I couldn’t see and my friend said, “hey I think that just went it.” I laughed as I encouraged him to hit his ball. Sure enough there it was the bottom of the cup. Titleist 3 DT Solo. I made the turn at the small clubhouse and asked the man behind the counter if there were any perks for hitting a hole in one. He said, “Yep you get yer’ name here in the record book. I smiled back at him and he said, “Cept’ there ain’t no record book here at Countryland.” We both laughed and I continued my round and went on to shoot an 83 that day. My scorecard and ball sits on the mantle at home which I’m sure my wife will move at some point. For now it’s earned a spot.
