Titleist combines for first ace
By Brad A On 15 July 2010
I've been trying to play at least once a week this summer with my 11-year old son. He's completely eaten up with the game and would rather watch the Golf Channel than play on the Wii. Of course dad would love to see him land a golf scholarship somewhere, so I'm doing everything I can to encourage him.
We were playing the par-3 course at Lafortune Park in Tulsa, OK on the evening of Wednesday, June 30th. When I hit my shot on the 15th hole with my Titleist AP2 9-iron about 123 yards, I saw it land on the green close to the pin, but didn't see where it ended up. My son said, "dad, that went in"! I told him that I didn't think so, believing that it hit off the flag stick.
We got up to the green and I didn't see the ball anywhere . . . and I did see a divot about a foot left of the hole . . . could it be?? Sure enough there was my ProV1 in the bottom of the cup!!
Since he's only 11 taking him out for drinks wasn't an option, so we went to a nice restaurant for dinner afterward to celebrate.
I hope one day he'll have a son who loves the game as well and he can share the story of the day he was playing with his dad and witnessed a first (and maybe only)!
Attached is a picture that he took of my with my cell phone.
Keep swinging and don't lose faith--if a hack like me can nail one, so can you!
