  1. Hey TT members! I purchased a titleist SM4 52 degree wedge from a second hard store. It was barley used and got if for $15 steal right? well getting into it. i hit my 52 about 115 yards it came with a KBS tour stiff shaft. But i hit my SM5 56 degree about 107. What gapping should i get im not sure if its worth carrying both opinions?

Most tour players use a 4 degree gap between wedges, so carry a 48, 52, 56, and 60 degree wedge. I use a 6 degree gap and carry a 46, 52, and 58 degree SM5 Vokey wedge. I hit my 46 about 120 yards, my 52 about 100 yards, and my 58 for anything inside 80. I hope that this helps.
  3. yes it does. I forgot to mention i carry a 48 degree vokey as well

Everyone is different. 4* gaps seem to work best in my experience. The strongest part of my game is probably my solid wedge play. (If I could drive the ball half as well as I play my wedges, I might actually have a real game.)

Here's what works pretty well for me:

    AP2-716 46 PW
    (only use for 3/4-full swings)

    SM6 50.08F GW
(3/4-full swings, plus long chips uphill and low pitch shots)

    SM6 54.10S SW
(3/4-full swings, most med-long chip shots and many pitches)

    SM6 58.12K LW
(1/2-full swings, short and short-sided chips, pitches, greenside bunkers, flops)

I know guys who use 1 wedge for most of the shots I mentioned above, who have great games around the green. So much depends on your game. If you are only concerned about full swings, then IMO, 4* is good gapping.

One main question is, what do you hit your 48?

If the yardage gap between your 48 & 52 is 20 yards, then I would strengthen the 52. If the yardage gap between your 48 & 52 is 10-15 yards, then I would weaken the 56.

Basically I would target an even 10-15 yardage gap between most of your irons/wedges.
