    Hey Guys,

Have a question for you all. My brother and I recently were fitted for the new 917 drivers, however the PGA Professional at the PGA SuperStore who fit us was unable to provide a driver/shaft combination that would fit my brother's numbers (Ball speed 180-182 and club head speed of 120mph).

He is left handed and is currently playing a 909D2 9.5 degree with a ProForce AXIVCore Tour Black 79 Tour X Stiff shaft, which ended up out performing anything the pro had on hand. The pro also indicated that since he traps the ball he may need a 12 degree 917D2 head.

Couple questions for the group: 1) Would the shaft he is currently playing be a good fit for the new 917D2? 2) Would it be available?

    Please help! Thank you!

I wouldn't guess on buying a 917. The concierges can suggest a pro shop that can work with a local Titleist rep to try other shafts and all the LH heads on loan. The 909 and 917 are so different in technology, the same shaft may not work as well either. If you have access to an Advanced Fitting Center, they have better options as well.

I find it strange that the Pro who did the fitting should have been able to answer both of these questions for you. My recommendation is to contact a Titleist Club Concierge at 1-888-Titleist. I could not find that shaft in the current catalog which you can look at under clubs, custom options. That does not mean it is not still available and that is why I recommend you call the experts.
