So far, I haven't had the opportunity to be fitted for a new 917D2 driver. However, I do have a 917F2 with the Diamana 60gm stiff shaft that I hit great, so my question is: For those of you who have been custom fitted, have you found that your driver and 3 wood share a similar shaft, accounting for length and weight?

I think that you may find that the shafts may differ depending on what the numbers show on the Trackman. The Driver shaft might be a little lighter. I did not get the 917D2 and keep playing my 915D2 11* with the Aldila Black Rogue 70 stiff and have the new Aldila Rogue MAX 75 stiff in my 917f2. Somewhat similar. Was fitted by Titleist certified fitters on both clubs. May compare the the 917s in May. Really like the way I am hitting the 915 set up right now. Love the accuracy factor and the and distance is more than satisfactory for a guy my age. Am approaching 71 and hit it 230-250. Won the long drive contest at the Team Titleist invitational last fall at Pinehurst, from the senior tees of course.

I got fitted for my 917D2 driver at a demo day a month before they were ready for sale. Had to wait to get it shipped to me when they started selling them. I got the 10.5 loft with the Diamana Blue stiff shaft. They helped fit me with the CG insert, and I tried a number of shafts. I was hitting the 915D2 before with the same shaft, and stuck with it for the new driver. My Titleist 3 wood and hybrid are the same shaft, but they are weighted differently. In the past I have had mixed shafts for drivers and fairway woods. Overtime, for me, I have learned that the consistent feel and flex point in the shafts have worked best for me.
  5. i actually dont play titleist driver (yet) but from my experience ffrom being fitted for two differnt drivers and three woods, it all depends on the numbers man. the kick points in a driver and a three wood shaft will probably be similar. The weights of the shafts should be different i would think. But really, it all comes down to numbers.
