Just wanted to get some feed back on Graphite Shafts vs Steel. I have a opportunity to get AP2 with either Graphite or Steel Shaft ( Regular ) . Would appreciate any feed back out there that is available. Alen

See what a professional fitter tells you after having a fitting done. I have stayed with steel even in a regular (R300 XP-90) based upon shaft weight and what fit me better at my last fitting of my 716 Ap1's. I had S300 Dynamic Gold Lites in my 712's. Tried a few graphite shafts but they didn't produce solid number for me. They might fit you very well but getting fitted is the best way to answer your question.

With lighter weight steel shafts and multiple options in composite shafts, there is a lot of cross-over in feel and function. It will be well worth your time to find a pro shop that can offer multiple choices to see what best suits your game and also match the irons up to hybrids. You may like metal shafts better but composite shafts just aren't for slow swing golfers anymore.
  4. If you go Graphite look at areotech steel fiber shafts

Going to a fitter is best. Northview GC is the Titleist regional fitter that would be close to home for you. I've been through the process there, and highly recommend it.
It all depends on what your needs are. I play steel PX's in my AP2's, and I have a friend who is a CPGA pro who has played graphite in his irons for the past 15 years. He uses it for vibration control , because of a previous wrist injury. I like the steel shafts because of the feedback I get from the impact. Good luck

Randy, Thank you. I have been fitted and Steel True Temper Dynamic Gold R300 as we talk is the Shaft. As I work at Northview ( Starter) they asked if I would be interested in trying Graphite before I made my final decision. I am trying to get some feedback prior to trying Graphite out.
Thank You again look forward to the possibility of seeing you on the first Tee of Ridge or Canal this season.

Hey Allen, ... I would definitely try the graphite then. Make sure that you get to also try it off of the turf too -- when the snow is all gone and what not. You will want to get a feel for the way the different shafts interact with the club head and turf. Plus, if they open the fitting bay door, you should be able to get a really good idea of actual, real time ball flight performance in addition to the data feedback from the Trackman that they use.

I will make a point of looking for you the next time I am out there!
