  1. I'm a believer now. I walked the course for the first time today. I was able to concentrate better maintain focus and got my lowest score ever. I've heard of all the positives of walking a course but wow. Also wanted to share a pic of my current set up. Thanks Titleist you're the best!

  2. Nice setup! Always play better when I walk
  3. Welcome to tge walkers group! Always walk when you plan when you can. Walking will make you on a more intimate level with the game. Take in the beauty of the golf course and clear your mind! And never forget... relax and enjoy the game!

Walking is so much better, better pace, your not riding up then waiting. I also find it slows down my thinking and allows me to enjoy the game better.

    Its also great exercise.

I always prefer walking over riding. Walking gives you the opportunity to appreciate the golf course. The game slows down and I tend to be more focused.
When riding in a cart, I have a tendency to rush my shots and the round.

I love to walk the course. It keep's me focused. Plus when i play the weekend I don't drive to my ball in the cart and have to wait for the group in front of me, I don't like to wait to hit my next shot.

Walking gives you more time to think about your next shot, whether that's a good thing or not depends on the player.
I always prefer to walk when I can, but ride when playing long courses or when it's long between tee to green (i.e. PGA @ Gleneagles)

When you have the time nothing feels beeter than when you've walked the course and shot a score you're proud of.

Walking is just the best way to play golf . Your foursome getting their exercise and chasing the sun. Played my first round of golf after hip replacement surgery using a cart can't wait to have stamina to start walking again.

I love walking.. The best... And you're right, you usually play best when walking.. Not a fan of riding at all...

I normally walk, but yesterday I rode and I did not play as well. Walking is the best way to play.
  12. Thanks everyone! I definitely want to walk more often now. I loved being able to reflect on my last stroke, take in the scenery and focus on the next stroke. I do have to work on fitness and nutrition now as both of my legs started cramping on the back 9. Was not fun at all. Also forgot to mention that my buddies were very hesitant to have me walk the course saying that I would slow down the pace of play. Well it turned out that they were the ones that ended up slowing everyone down by driving around looking for their balls while I was able to stripe it down the fairway!

I detest riding in a cart and only do when I have to, like in scrambles, etc., and even then I'll get out and walk as much as I can. For those of us who sit behind a desk, we need the exercise. Plus, golf was meant to be done on foot. There's another argument in favor; I love it when I'm playing a match against a rider, because he drives up and sits there waiting for me all day. While he sits I get into a rhythm. He may have already played his shot by the time I get to mine and I get into preshot and go. I have much, much less waiting time.

    Kris,
I have been walking golf courses since 1956. I avoid courses where riding is mandatory.
  15. Walk as much as I can. My son is 10 and might love this game more than me. There is NO better way to spend a weekend afternoon than walking the course with him; it's like a drive, chip, and putt commercial! Walking adds that bonding time

I couldn't agree more. Walking is the way to go. My rhythm and timing seem to be much better when I walk. I also don't get those moments where the club I need is in the cart but I get lazy and just swing the one that's in my hands... It never works out
