I agree with Allen! The launch of a golf ball is not summarized by "low" or "high", but rather it is defined by a set of "launch conditions" (which are the data that TrackMan records). Some of these include: Attack angle, face angle, spin loft, club speed, ball speed, spin rate, launch angle. This data (and its relationship to optimal or accepted ranges) will tell you why your ball flies the way it does. So, in a fitting, you should use the method of trial and error to arrive at a club head/loft/shaft combination that gives you a better set of launch conditions. Like Allen said regarding the upward blow with the driver, it is all about high launch/low spin. So if you already have the low spin, you've tackled a problem that many struggle with: high spin. Maybe it's as easy as getting your launch angle up a bit and keeping the spin the same. Good luck!

There have been a few suggestions already. Changing the ball isn't going to make a huge difference for you.

The two best suggestions so far (and the ones that'll make the most difference) are :

- Have your swing checked. If you're not swinging up on the ball you'll have issues getting it up at any real height

- Check your driver - you just might need more loft!

See your local pro and they should be able to help you determine if one or the other will offer the most benefit.

Greg I'm certainly no expert. Last spring I wanted to get my trajectory up a little and thought that a ball change would be the answer. My pro told me that my ball flight was just fine and if I wanted a higher flight it would need to come from a swing change more than from the ball. I went ahead and compared all of the Titleist balls anyway and found that the Pro V1 had a slightly higher flight off the driver but it still wasn't what I wanted. Each time I'd see my pro he'd ask if my ball testing had lowered my score and my answer stayed no through my comparison. Then I went for an early fitting for the 915, I had never been happy with the feel of the Diamana Blue regular flex shaft that I had on my 913. Tried six different shafts and the one that Trackman said I was hitting best... longer, higher trajectory, and tightest landing pattern, was an Aldila VooDoo stiff. So I bought a VooDoo for the 913. That shaft change did lower my scores a little by getting me closer to the green and in the right spot to make an approach shot. All I can say is that I'm glad I went for the driver fitting and went on TrackMan. My guess would be that a session on TrackMan would give you the answers to your spin question, you might be surprised to find that your spin rate is just fine. I've also been working on that swing change and catching the ball on the upswing a little better. This game is too complicated. Good luck.

I agree with Dana's comments, and you should consider picking up a ball that works best for you inside of 100 yards. I have been through testing at Titleist national fitting centers as well as Titleist ball fitters....that is something many share in advice. However, everyone has different priorities and preferences so only you can determine what is most important to your game. I have switched over the last year from the x to the std ProV1 as a result of more feel and softness around the greens.

Yes its true that the ball has some factors that can help or hinder but i would look more towards your swing we get so caught up in hitting down on the ball that we have a tendency to do the same with our drivers check ball placement then watch your swing you need to hit the driver more up on the ball see if this gives you the results your looking for the higher or less spinning ball helps more with fade or draw.

I play the ProV1X. I have found it spins less off the driver and gives me the ball flight I prefer

I hit the ball high as a rule, but I like the extra carry I seem to get with the X.

With my irons I am able to back the ball up or stop it on the green. My ball flight

I tend to adjust to the shot and conditions. May have something to do with how steep or

shallow your approach is to shots? Tried many other balls over time, but always end up

with the X!

I had an opportunity to hit the NXT Tour this past Saturday, and I have to admit it felt amazing around the greens. I may consider buying a sleeve and doing a one on one with the Pro V1.

Basically, the Pro V1 spins more. What you haven't said is what is the loft of your driver and what is your launch angle off the tee with your driver. I think you have to look at the driver itself first and then the ball. A poorly fitted driver may be the only problem. Go to a fitting center for your driver and have them determine the launch angle. Get their suggestion of the correct ball for the launch angle, club speed and ball speed.

You may want to consider Titleist ball fitting match up to drive and swing. Ever bit worth the experience and insight. The filth.and carrier have a lot to do with you swing and the shaft on your clubs.

[/quote]I am a 17 hndcpr. It really does not matter all that much weather its a Pro V or a Pro V1x.

The Velocity, NXT-S, DT Solo,

They are all great balls. I am able to feel the difference around the greens, but other than that if

it says Titleist on it, you have the perfect ball. Have fun and keep em straight.

The ball should be chosen based on it's performance inside of 100 yards, especially around the green, and not off the tee. If you're looking for a higher ball flight off the driver, swallow your pride and pick up a 12* or more driver. Get custom fitted to be sure the backspin off the driver is not too high.

Seek out a ball testing, which will help you to determine which ball is right for you. My observation is that the ProV1x flies higher for me.

Here's my observation:
The PRO V1x spins less but its flight and launch off of the longer clubs is higher than the regular PRO V1.

While spin can help the ball fly higher, I think the aerodynamics of the dimple pattern play a significant role in ball flight and launch angles.

I'm sure that ball speed, swing plane, and other factors will also affect this ... This is probably a better question for one of the Titleist engineers, I'd love to hear their take on this?

Anyhow head-to-head comparison is the best way to discover what ball works best for you. Let us know what you decide.
