EXP-01 are in stock at Carls' Golfland Bloomfield location, if anyone is local. Had about a dozen boxes, when I picked up mine.

Will listen to the response on the community, but will continue to play my old reliables, Prov1s. They are reliable and I score well with them and my clubs are dialed in. Like the results.

Probably Not. I always volunteered for the testing of new balls coming out, and you never knew what you were getting. I could be a replacement for the ProV1, ProV1x, now AVX, or any of the Titleist balls. You were basically playing blind and turned in your review of what you thought. Now I like my new ProV1x's and will stick with those and trust the engineers to try to bring something better, and when they do I'll try it.

Received my dozen today from Titleist.com. Will put in play this week in my next round. will report back..
  7. Just received a dozen in the mail today and looking forward to trying. Looks like there is intentionally not much information on them. Club pro thinks they may be going after the Chrome Soft market
  8. I got two dozen in Yesterday - already did some bounce testing on a wedge and they are soft. I have a net and a green in my back yard, so I have hit them, chipped and putted with them. They feel really nice. They are soft feeling - softer than Pro V1 and Pro V1x. Off the putter they have a heavier feel to them. Not sure how to describe it, but the last ball I played that felt like these was the Maxfli Revolution (the last version that had a thin layer of windings).

I like it so far. Playing 18 on Sunday - will try to remember to report my findings. Not knowing what it is, is half the fun :)
  9. Got my 3 dozen from Titleist today. Can’t wait to play them!

  11. I played them this morning but it is a bit hard to talk about the ball because we have not had rain here in a month and the rough was rock hard, the greens were lightning fast and all the pins were in awful spots. Having said that...

The ball does not hold up well when hitting a cart path. I hit it twice - the first one was not bad but the second one was a long drive and it took a chunk out. When it is hit well this ball seemed to launch. I could not tell on short game spin because the greens were so hard they would not bite. Even full irons into the green would not hold, but again, I do not think it was the ball.

The ball seems to be a ball that has short game spin with a very soft cover and heavy feel on teh putter (a good thing IMO). But, it seems to not have much spin in the long game requiring a really good strike in order to make it perform. If you hit an average shot (low on teh face with the driver) this ball is not getting up (what ball does? This one is a bit lower than most).

I like the ball, but in comparisson to the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, I think right now I am a Pro V1 player. It does depend on consistency of your impacts though and that is on me and not the ball.

I am looking forwad to more testing on my green and my next round (with hopefully more normal greens)
  12. Thanks for the review John. I have a dozen and can't wait to give them a try. Hopefully they are as good as you say they are.
  13. I played 18 today with the ball as well. I agree with everything said above. It is definitely not a high spin ball and it plays well in the wind. It may be a few yards longer than the AVX. It is solid but not clicky. Soft but not a marshmallow. I played 18 with two balls and just needed to clean the dirt smudges off and they look fresh out of the box. This is definitely a ball that needs to come to market.

  16. Just played a round with the EXP01 myself. Very good distance, low spin on the tee shots, more spin than the avx around the green. Very pleased with the overall performance. Great feel. Had a chip in with it and used the same ball the entire round. Balky putter led to a 76, finished out the round with the trusty SM7 wedge lol. But A+ golf ball, I hope it makes it to market

I didn't have the same reaction. I missed the spin I get from ProV1 from 6 iron to PW. I agree that I liked it on the greens as it felt very soft and off the tee where it flew high and straight, but it did not perform for the approach game which for me is essential to a good round.

Durability is on par with the premium line and is a welcome addition to the line.

I wonder if that was the unknown ball they tested with us at Blackwolf Run driving range at the TT Invitational? I wonder if Titleist will say yes or no?

Played a few holes on Sunday and then went indoors to test on a trackman against Pro V1

First impressions, appearance and soft feel remind me of Tour Soft while distance and ball speed remind me of AVX.

Agree with other posts about spin around greens is better than AVX.

For the driver it performed very similar to Pro V1 with respect to Ball Speed, Peak Height Carry and Total Distance. Spin was a couple 100 RPM lower.

With the irons (7 & PW) Ball Speed, Peak Height and Carry were similar. Spin was fractionally lower but not materially. Performance with wedges (Gap, SW & LW) was also very solid. Dispersion (short to long or back-to-front) was not as good as Pro V1 with all irons.

Ball felt soft off the putter, very similar to Tour Soft, but I prefer the Pro V1

Overall, the ball is very solid. I will be curious as to where it goes from here (e.g. next generation AVX, Tour Soft replacement, Hybrid of the two, etc.)
  21. Rushed home after work to try out the EXP-01 and was amazed. Knocked a birdie putt in on the first hole and then again on the third hole. Only got 5 holes in before the sun went under. Superior feel to the ProVx on the green and seemed to go straighter off the putter as well as my other clubs. I'm sold. Titleist please bring it to market full time!
