Yeah love a vs on a loner round of golf. You never know when I ball might start suiting your game better than another model always worth seeing what’s out there.

I need spin, so ProV1x is the ball I was fit into. TP5 spins more, and ultimately gives me better results. I hope Titleist launches a ProV1x+ one day. I want to keep it all Titleist.

I think it is really convincing to test the products for our own games, on golf courses, to find the best ball for our own game. What convinces me that Titleist makes the best golf balls is looking in the WITB (what's in the bag) of tour players. It doesn't take much to realize that Titleist is truly #1 when you see how many pros have 'contracts' with other manufacturers but play Titleist balls. I won't mention names, but it is interesting to see 'who plays what'!

I actually got fit for a golf ball last summer. I too played the TP5, but felt I was losing distance and coming up short on shots. Boy was I right!! While with my irons and wedges I was only slightly longer with ProV1 vs. TP5, the real attention grabber was with driver. I was averaging 15 yards longer and a tighter dispersion when compared to TP5. From there on, it has been a no brainer. Not that I have had much of one to start with.

I play a ProV1 and was recently sent two sleeves of TP5 2024 prototypes to test. The post-testing survey from TM specifically mentioned the ProV1 as my benchmark. The following is the testing feedback I provided:

“Balls felt very firm, resulting in hot mid iron shots and shorter drives (10-15 yards) with a lower launch angle than my typical flight with a ProV1. Both points were noticed by my regular playing partner.

Ball was workable with good spin around greens.

Putted true with solid roll and controllable speed and distance.

Used the same ball the entire round speaking to increased durability.

Overall a solid ball I likely would not choose to play given its unpredictability for long game shots.”

I’ll stick with my ProV1, thank you.

I have found the TM tour level ball to be less durable. Lot more wear on the cover than the Prov1x during a round.

I do the same thing in the off season as far as playing different models. I have found that the TPx plays good for me off the tee but stops there compared to the Pro V1 and 1x. I played the Pro V1 much of the season but have found myself going back to the Pro V1X for the short game.

Got fitted for my gamer many years ago at our course. Have played the Prov1 ever since. Have tried the Pro1x left dash and did the white box testing last year, BUT the Prov1 still my ball also. Love the sound the feel off the club.
The 2023 model travels well also.

So cool to read this. I usually play the prov1x but wanted to see what difference there might be with the tp5x. Wow. Was I surprised. Many things changed but was mainly noticed off the tee. My “normal” fade was gone and distance off by at least 10 yards. At first I thought it might have just been me that day but when I changed back on the back 9— the fade was back! If it ain’t broke, don’t fox it.

I do that myself sometimes. TP5 is a great ball but it ain't no ProV1. I'm just a mid teens handicap and can't work the ball much but can tell the difference. Personal favorite is the ProV1X. It just works for me.
