  1. I was just curious if anyone had upgraded from 917 to TS driver and saw a noticeable difference? I like my 917 but if the latest isn’t longer and more accurate or forgiving I’m not sure I would give my current club up just yet.

When i did my fitting the numbers were not dramatically different but were better. That said, I am hitting the TS3 much better from a consistency standpoint and feeling much more confident on the tee box. Went from 917D3 10.5 Aldila Rouge Max 65R to TS3 10.5 Tensei Blue R. Suggest you at least do a Titleist Thursday fitting and check your numbers.

LIkewise. Went from 917D2 Diamana M S 12 to a TS2 Tensai Blue R 11.5. Trackman recorded an average of 4 mph increase in ball speed and in the real world I'm getting more drives over 220 yards than before. Good hits with the 917 were 210+. To note, the Kuro Kage would have been the 1:1 upgrade from the M+, but the Tensai did better. Do the full fitting.

I went from 917d2 rouge shaft 270 yards average to TS2 evenflow shaft 285 yards average, TS2 was 4/5 mph club head speed faster.
Out on the course it’s unbelievable,
Without a doubt the best woods I’ve ever bought.
It’s more forgiving than the old 917d2,
The straighter clubface and black face head reminds me of the 915d2 I had a few years ago.
Titleist have hit a home run with these woods, I can’t recommend them enough to anyone!!
  5. I had the 917D3 then replaced it with the 917D2. I went for a fitting here in Atlanta with Titleist fitter Vince Young and saw enough to change to the TS3. We shortened my shaft by an inch, but I still gained about 5 to 10 yards just by hitting the center of the face more often. My ball speed increased by about 4 MPH. The big difference I have seen is the dispersion of the shots. The misses are playable. The well struck ball is right where I envisioned it to be. All I can say is go and get fit properly...and see if the numbers work for you. I was happy with my 917, but I am much happier now that I have the TS3 in my bag. I think Titleist has set a new standard on drivers.

For me the TS2 was a combination of distance gain, and a much smaller dispersion. Gained on average 15+ yards - which alone would have sold me but also narrowed the dispersion window quite a bit. Interestingly, this was a head-to-head test on driver head as I was using my 917's Fujikura Speeder Pro shaft in both. For me it was a no-brainier to upgrade to the TS2.

This is what happened to me. After hitting the new TS2 with the HZDS I found decreased dispersion and a slight increase, maybe 5 yds, in distance. We then tried my Fujikura Speeder and the yardage gains were closer to 10 to 15 yds and dispersion stayed down. It's going to be a few months before I make the upgrade after another fitting session.
  8. I just got fitted for TS3 with the white evenflow 6.0 and I used it for the first time today and it was amazing I couldn’t recommend it more. The 917 always intimidated me a bit much but the shape of the TS3 and the forgiveness were just unbelievable. Get an upgrade to TS3!

  10. I've had a TS2 for a couple of months now. I have HZDROUS Smoke shaft with a 9.5 head. My overall distance increased from the 917 about 6 yards. So far, I have found that I have been able to dial in the settings for better accuracy. I'm sure everyone has a little different results based on the variance in swing speeds and styles.
  11. The TS3 is the FIRST driver in my history that actually goes FARTHER than my prior driver. My 917 is 11 yards SHORTER than my TS3.

Both drivers were fit at the TPI so the quality of the fittings was consistent.

The TS gave me more mph in ball speed, increased distance and (for me most importantly) better dispersion over my previous 917 setup. Like any club, being properly fit is the key to seeing the most benefit possible.
  13. No. I've upgraded from the 915s. I did however put the 917 up against the TS3 and there was a definite difference. Sound with the TS3 is MUCH better. Then there's the forgiveness and distance levels. New heights have been reached. The distance was at least 10 yards for me. And the forgiveness is much better. Hooks became pulls and slices became pushes.
  14. I said this in another thread, but I had no intention of replacing my 917 after only one season. $500+ is a lot for what amounts to a club rental. However, after an hour with my fitter and a Trackman comparing my 917 with the TS2, it was a no brainer to take the plunge. Better feel, sound, and dispersion were the selling points for me. The extra yards is just an added bonus. Fortunately, I was able to trade in my 917 and get some of the cost back. I can't wait to get it out on the course this spring.

I went from 917D3 to the TS3 and saw a significant increase in distance and accuracy. I loved the 917, but the TS3 is so much better, looks and feel are much better too. Love the black on the driver, for me, looks better than gray.

I loved my 917's i had both the d2/d3 i do like the feel of the TS3 more than the 917 line.
  17. I have recently booked a fitting for TS3 driver and 3w. Currently hitting 917D2 and f3. Based on many of the reviews and positive feedback above, I can't wait to see the difference and put them in the bag!

After gaming a 983K for more than a few years, I got fitted for a TS3. Technology might not be quite as evident year to year in equipment, but it is very noticeable over time. What a great driver. Don't let anyone tell you that the its all hype.... TS3 is an excellent driver that has me longer and straighter than ever.

I went from the 917D2 to the TS2 last fall, just before a trip to Myrtle Beach for 8 days. I found the TS to be more forgiving on the off-centers than the 917. I had an old png G something that I won several years ago. I hated the sound of it, but I did have to admit that it was very forgiving on off centers. The TS I found was almost the same, but better ball flight, much better sound, and basically everything I was looking for. Gave me everything I liked about the 917 but more. To me it was worth it. Then I again I had the money in the pro shop anyway.
  20. Seems to be some affection out there for the old 917... but the general opinion seems to be thatTS is better.
Strange, I never like the 917 at all and bailed out of buying one at the fitting stage.

I just upgraded from a 915 D2 in 10.5 to the TS2 in 9.5. They fitted me with the Tensei AV55 stiff shaft. Did a side by side with my old driver with Matrix 50X5 White Tie stiff and gained about 15 yards. Had same yardage gain with the Kuro Kage 50 in stiff, but tightened up the dispersion with the Tensei. Put the Matrix shaft on the TS2 and got similar results.
