never owned a cart bag personally, but looking at the likes for people that favor fewer rather than more seems that less is the preference.

Dividers must go all the way down the bag. This prevents the club from being snagged by other clubs.

I'd even go for something in middle. the irons are what typically gets hung up when sharing a slot. So maybe having a few more slots for irons with no more than 2 per slot would be a fair compromise between size and function

Took a while to get accustomed to the 14 openings, but now that I have a system I like it a lot. Wear and tear on the grips is certainly less than with the carry bag.

14 way divider is really good for a cart bag, but I understand while some ppl prefer less than 14, so it's great to have both options available. I prefer less than 14 when carrying my bag, because I may not have a full complement of clubs (esp. In winter) and helps keeps the bag lighter.
Even then 5 or 6 is an ideal number of dividers in order to keep wedges separate from mid irons, long irons, any rescue, driver and putter.
It then allows for using the same bag when getting closer to the summer season and more clubs in the bag. Good balance of weight Vs convenience.

I have them all. I have just about every imaginable configuration produced, from 1, 3, 5, 6 up to 15 with the putter specific slot. My biggest peeve is not having a putter slot. Damaging a putter grip or doing the putter tug and dance for 18 holes is just annoying. I take my vintage clubs out with the 1 (more of a Sunday bag) and 3’s and carry/walk the course. Those are vintage bags too. Yes, I have more than one 3. The two smaller ones have minimal pockets (2 and 3) which keeps things to an absolute needs level. The larger bags are for drive cart only. Those are for those high-end non-caddie courses. They are just shy of staff bag size and volume. I noticed at the caddie courses that they prefer the lightweight bags with minimal slots, especially if they’re carrying more than one bag. I’ll generally travel with the midsize carry bag for both weight and room considerations. I use the light 6 or mid weight 14 slots for my push cart to minimize chatter and for ease of club removal and replacement. There’s a reason we all carry 14 clubs, and play golf on I8 different holes on 1000s of courses, and have more than one pair of golf shoes, that same logic goes into why I have so many bags, variety, options, and insanity. I love this game.

Definitely 14, my Stay Dry Cart Bag is the best. If I was still carrying, probably a stand bag with 5 or 6 dividers.

I use the 14 way deluxe cart bag and love the organizational benefits. Always easy to find the right club and makes me very aware that all the clubs are in the bag before we leave a green and head to the next tee box. Plenty of pockets for storage. I also have a stand bag for when I play a course that does not allow carts. Luckily for me, the only one that falls in that category is East Lake, and I don't mind not having that full size bag that day...and neither does the caddy.

Not worried about grips wearing from the dividers as we should be changing our grips out at least once a year.

I prefer a 4 - 5 slot bag, but I have also put in 4 - 5 plastic tubes into it, which provides the freedom to easily pull out a club, yet also protects the grips and shafts from being damaged. (I also clean/wipe down my grips after every round I play, which keeps them tacky, and extends their life for several years.)

14. It helps to make sure that I have not left a wedge laying around a green, all of the slots are full.

Personally, I look for 15 full-length dividers in my trolley bag.
The extra slot allows for the umbrella/ball tube to be enclosed within the bag hood whilst loading and unloading from the car and when the bag is stored in the garage.
Whilst playing, I have an instant check that all clubs are present.
One addition I wish for is, a bag base that is hinged somehow to facilitate the removal of objects and cleaning.

I have the Titleist Lightweight Cart Bag with 14 dividers for when I ride or use a pushcart and I think it's great. Easy to get clubs in and out, grips and shafts stay protected. Key is the wider designated putter slot.

I’ve been using the 14 divider bags for years. What I like about them is that I can quickly tell if I’m missing a club. A place for every club and every club in its place.

The only downside I’ve encountered is that some of the 14 divider bags aren’t really designed for push carts. Club orientation for riding on a golf cart is reversed if walking with a push cart. Nothing worse than your wedges banging up your graphite shafts on your Woods.

I agree with Barry....I recently switched to a cart bag. I was disappointed that that I could not have a 5 way option in the 2017 Titrlist lightweight cart bag. Much prefer the design look of the 2027 bags compared to the 2018.

14 divider seems to reduce the dings on forged irons. If your not using forged irons it probably doesn't matter.

LIKE THE IDEA OF HAVING THE PUTTER OUTSIDE OF THE THE REGULAR DIVIDERS.
THE GRIP IS LARGER THAN THE REGULAR SHAFTS THUS BECOMES CLUMSY TO REMOVE

I like the 15 slot bags...I have my irons placed so that I don't pull my 6 iron when I want my 9 iron, which I have done before...and my putter can have it's own slot away from the graphite shafts of the other clubs...no dings on the others

Titleist bags looks pretty good, but they could be better like Sun Mountain, Pings, and Ogios for adding more functionalities like special pockets or using lighter materials or else. Colors are also not happening much...too classic that younger generations are looking away (don't stick to older clouds only, Titleist!).
