I agree with some of the other TT members. It really depends on the charity for me. I absolutely hate 4-man scrambles, but I'll do it when (1) it's a charity that I support or (2) it is free for me.

I hate 4-man scrambles because of the cheating - that's why I have to tell myself that I'm playing for charity. However, I do really like 2-man scrambles - a good team format with little chance for cheaters :)

depends on the charity. if its a moral based charity i would say no more than 50. but if its a major cancer or major charity i can see larger donations but if its just a local like high school or booster club of some sort anything over 50 better come with a nice swag bag when i show up before the round and nice prizes at the end.

For me it depends on the golf course you are playing. What is it for? Are there good prizes involved? Is it handicapped?

Are there going to be Stacked teams like 4 College golfers against me and a few high handicaps.

And the ones I do not like are the ones where you get to buy Mulligans. Silly string and other ways people can use to enhance their score.

All that said I think $50 to $100 is about right with $100 being a really good course that I would like to play anyway.

Wal Mart used to sponsor one and it was awesome, Tons of great prizes, Mostly Electronics like DVD players, Game systems, Digital cameras. I did not mind paying the $50 or $60 bucks for that one.

It all depends on who's throwing the tournament, and what they have there. I usually only pay $100-$125. Anything more than that, it's not worth it. Unless the Laker girls are there, and there's free alcohol. haha :)

The public courses are in the 50-75 range for open scrambles, Start with a popular charity, add some local celebrities, and do it at a private club, and 500-1000 can happen. An upcoming First Chance benefit has 3 slots with a local LPGA that the bidding starts at 2500. Worthwhile and I know they want to raise a lot, but I'll have to pass on that one.

Don't know where you are located, but here I have yet to pay more than $50 per person for a scramble. In fact, we have one coming up in 2 weeks and the cost is $40 per man. Payouts are from $150 down to $5 and that about covers all the issues during the game. We usually have to pay for a cart as that may or may not be included and that can run $12 for a half cart. The prices you are quoting are way out of my price range.
