Bummer, but our season's over. Course is closed now until spring. This year a couple weeks early. Snow last weekend and again Tuesday. Today a mix of rain and snow, with snow in the forecast again on Sunday. A shame, our course is in great shape with emerald green showing where the snow has melted.

Sad to hear Rick. I am trying to get one more round in this year around Green Bay. Fingers crossed I can get a cold weather round in on Saturday!

Bummer, sure glad that I live on the coast of S Carolina, specifically Mt Pleasant, across the Intercoastal Waterway from Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms. Our four weeks of winter will show up sometime between December and February. We do get a little snow every now and then and the it melts by the end of the day. Just enough to excite everyone and the bring the whole area to a complete standstill and to close all the schools. It is pretty while is lasts. We are truly blessed to be able to play golf most of the year. When it frosts we just wait for the sun to come out and let the super determine it is safe for us to play on the greens. I have enough FJ midlayers, outerwear to ensure I stay comfy when it does a bit nippy. We moved from Memphis because the winters were too cold there.

As most on here know, I have been on break since December. I am so ready to hit the links as soon as the doctor gives me the green light......anticipation.......in the meantime it's is the driving range and lessons.....a little apprehension as well.....

Can't wait for the temps to drop another 20 degrees here in MD. Maybe I'll be able to have my course back to myself!

Covid has been terrible for everyone, except golf course owners. Seems they have all benefited big time. At my home course, 2019 was the best year they had ever had. Then Covid hit. We closed down for two months in the Spring, opening back up in mid-May. By August, 2020 had become the most profitable year ever for my course. Good for the owner, not for those of us who had purchased special multi-year, all-inclusive memberships a few years back.

So, now, assuming the crowds finally die down and the snow stays away, I hope to get some uncrowded golf in over the next few months. Got my Titleist pom-pom winter hats, wool head bands and FJ WinterSof gloves out, as well as my full-enclosure cart cover and propane heater ready! Bring on the cold.

I got my 40th round in on Wednesday. Forecast calls for below average temps all next week. This may be it for me. I am holding out for a couple of days in the 50's, with sun and no wind. I'm probably dreaming!

Grew up in Northern New York and moved to the Triangle area of North Carolina...I golf year round. January is iffy but you if can be patient a 50 degree (or warmer) day pops up and it's great to shake off the rust. My wife and I currently have a streak of 70 consecutive months playing which is a testament to good weather and good health. We've been lucky with both!

Living in Florida, I hate responding to these posts. I lived in Metropolitan NYC for 57 years and I used to hate this time of the year, knowing what was around the corner. Snow, sleet and freezing cold. I have plenty of empathy for those living in northern climates. Hopefully you guys can someday join the rest of us northern transplants down here in "The Golf Capitol of The World".
  12. Played round #92 today at Reservoir Creek in Naples, NY. Trying to get 100 in rounds in Western NY isn’t too easy. We should have a few more weeks before he snow flies.

Saw the forecast for this weekend and it looks like I can get another round in before winter. It was 38 on Saturday during my round and it will be 45 this Sunday. My TT winter hat has been amazing in the cold.

Sorry to hear about the closing Rick. Here at the Jersey Shore, the crowds just keep coming. We've had a record year here as well. I can't even find time to get on this site and read everyone's post. It seems most of the cars in the parking lot are out of state. As long as the weather holds out, the crowds will be here I guess. Still doing 200 rounds a day. It's definitely a double edged sword. I do have some time tonight to try to catch up here. So good to read y'alls post!!

We have never closed for the winter here in Wichita. Our season will be hit and miss going forward.

In November they will close 1 or 2 courses for 2 weeks then close another one and reopen the closed ones??? Silly I think but they say it saves money.

Ice and snow right now in Kansas, so I feel your pain.

But once December-February hits might get out once or twice. The wind stops me from playing in 40 degrees weather around here.

I'm from Scotland and that's our 'Winter League' starting as of next week. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we have to play off mats on the fairway and we have special winter greens marked out on the fairways to protect the course for the summer so its in as best conditions as possible.

Last medal competition last weekend which i would have won if I hadn't bogied the last, was super windy 30 mph+ winds and around 5 degrees Celsius playing downwind was almost as difficult as playing in the wind!

Well at least can can still play through the winter, time to look out the waterproofs, mitts and base layers, gonna be a cold one!

I totally understand, Rick D. Seeing a course in a prime condition but had to close is a bummer.

Hunting season should be open soon, right?

There still may be one or two open spots for the Team Titleist International at Casa de Campo DR for those who are still snowbound in March and ready for some sunshine. Go to the "events" link to sign up. (shameless plug)
