Fellow Team Titleist members, I'm headed to Atlanta in late May for work and wanted to squeeze in a round on a public course in the area. I'll probably only have one day to do so, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Which side of town will you be staying? There are some tremendous public courses to choose from here. I would be happy to recommend some of my favorites.

I'm playing at Cobblestone in Acworth next week while I'm in town. I hear it's one of the best public courses in Georgia.

Best of luck Brandon. Cobblestone is my home course, I live about 5 minutes away. The course is in pretty good shape right now thanks to the overseeding from last fall, so the fairways are nice and green and in good shape.

My recommendation is take advantage of the 150 yard markers in the middle of the fairway. Use whatever club you need to get to that point then go to the green from there. Most of the trouble is around the greens. Stay short of the traps on 10 and 18 in particular or you're in a for a world of pain.

Cobblestone is great! We played there during a quick trip to the ATL. It was my favorite course we played.
Stone Mountain isn't too far and has a great 36 holes. It's more of a resort course, but is very fun.
There's also Charlie Yates. It's an executive 9 hole course that's in great shape and quick to play. We played there one afternoon expecting a pitch and putt, and what we found a fairly legit course instead. Enjoy your time down there!

Cobblestone, Woodmont, Bridge Mill, St Marlo, Heritage, Bear's Best are all great. All are well north of downtown. Where are you staying?

    Brian N,

It's important to know where around ATL you are staying. As you will find out we are probably 2nd in the Nation when it comes to traffic congestion. I play Woodmont & Bridge Mill almost every weekend. Nice courses, it's further out from ATL.
I would recommend in this order 1. St. Marlo, 2. Bear's Best 3. RiverPines
    Good luck.

I forgot to mention that especially if it's been dry for a couple of days, the greens on the lake holes, 3, 4, 5, 15, and 16 are consistently faster than the others. Especially 3 and 15.

Thanks for the quick responses, everyone. I'm staying near the Georgia Dome.
