  1. The leaves are starting to turn in Southern Ontario, but hopefully we still have several more weeks of golf. Changing conditions, more wind, and more rain mean changing expectations for scoring. We had a nice warm, dry September and conditions at most courses was still very good. Now some of them are starting to punch their greens, and we have receive lots of rain over the past week. Index has gone up slightly, but it is still nice to just get out.

The season is winding down here in the Kootenays in British Columbia. The falling leaves make it little tougher to find your ball...still better than being at work.

One last tournament this week at Christina Lake; fall golf is fantastic here!

Fall is always a nice time to get out on the course. The leaves changing colours provide some great views to capture your attention as you walk from shot to shot. The weather is cooler and typically the greens are softer accepting quality shots from green fairways. Of course there is always the issue of finding your ball in the leaves and not getting the roll out in the fairways you hope for, but that is all part of the game. Like you BMaddigan, I fully expect my index to go up with the fall rounds as it always has over the years. I does make one wonder why we cannot have different rating for courses that apply in the spring and fall given how different the courses play vs the summer.
  4. Agreed. I wish they could handicap the system to allow for early season and late season games. Also, we are going to be playing in 40km/hr winds this afternoon. With all of today's technology, there should be some way we can factor that into our scores as well.

Weather has been great up here in Ottawa but is it just me - the wind has been crazy. I cannot recall this many rounds where we have been battling 20+ mph winds - makes it a very long course at times!
  6. couple weeks left here in New Brunswick, spent most of the summer looking for my ball in the woods, now that i have been hitting fairways with my ts2 ill have to bring back the ball searching skills for all of the leaves

Down here in the southernmost part of the country I'm hoping for another 2 months of golf. If I recall correctly December 2nd was our last round last year; very wet but a warm day so it was still enjoyable. For whatever reason I typically play my best golf in the fall. I hope to this year as well since I haven't had many good rounds so far this year.

Here in Calgary our high was -1 today with flurries and up to 25 cm of snow possible over the next 48 hours. So I won't have to worry about losing a ball for at least a week.

Time to start using those yellow Pro V1 and AVX balls.
