Is a fitting worth my time?

  1. I am not much a golfer, but I do love the game. I bought a used set of 704 CB 5-PW online last year and have been trying to learn to use them well. I didn't get fit for them but used a system of measuring my height and wrist to ground etc... I found online it it recommended a +1 length.

I have a hard time making consistent contact on the ball. I've had several lessons in the past, hours and hours actually. When I make solid contact the ball flight is beautiful. For example my 9 iron will fly high and roll out to about 120-125 yards(per range signage) and my 7 will stop about 130-135 yards. But as mentioned, I can't repeat this over and over. So my question is, should I learn to be more consistent before even bothering with a fitting for new clubs or am I using the wrong clubs/shafts to begin with and that's whey I can't hit the ball consistently?

Absolutely, get fitted. Whoever you go to should also be able to adjust your clubs as needed. After that, probably keep taking lessons as you see fit, but right now you're adjusting your swing to fit your clubs, it should be the other way around.

100% absolutely worth it. A properly fit set of clubs will help you get the most out of your lessons and game and allow you to have a much more enjoyable time out on the course. You could be making all the right moves that you’ve learned in your lessons, but if your clubs are ill fitted for you and your swing, they can hinder the results and even cause you to “swing around” your clubs rather than your clubs being an extension of your body.

You already don’t trust the length and CB’s a “player’s style. Both are working against you. You should at a minimum have a pro determine your needs in an AP1. If you really need a +1 inch shaft then it may be best to order a new set. The other option would be to pay for a fitting and try to find a used set. But only if the recommendation is something close to “stock”. With a set the proper length, loft, and the appropriate shaft, your learning and joy will be a lot easier.

You definitely need to get a fitting from a certified Titleist fitter. Your clubs are about 15 years old and technology wise, prehistoric. Current equipment and shafts properly fit will certainly help improve ball striking ability.

Confidence is key. If you get fit, you will have all the confidence in the world that those clubs are built for you. That will eliminate one more thing for you to think about.
  7. Fitting is 100% worth it. Without a doubt it makes a huge difference in your scores when your gaming the right equipment for your game.
  8. Would you buy a suit off the rack without knowing if it fit you? Same for golf clubs. Makes a world of difference to get clubs fit to you.

I would not even consider buying clubs unless I was fit for them. There are so many variables in club fitting today, it's almost a science. It's the correct thing to do and you'll be glad you did.

Also keep taking lessons...even the pros have teachers who check their swing and alignment. Best of luck to you!!!

I go for a fitting each time I get new clubs. As you get older things in your swing do change and adjustments need to be made. If you want a club that will help your game, you need to be fitted. 'Nough said. =)

Without doubt get fitted titleist Thursday is fantastic (although my titleist Thursday was on a Tuesday) you don’t need to buy anything either.
I was sceptical at a fitting aswell but after gaining 20yds with the driver I was fitted for I will never buy a club again without being fitted.
  15. I recently went for a full bag fitting at the national fitting centre and can't recommend it enough. The fitting helped my game come on no end having the confidence with the club's that I bought knowing they were right for me. The amount of detail that they went into at the fitting was unbelievable and it was nice how everything was explained. I can't recommend it enough tbh.
  16. Sorry to piggy back off everyone else but I'm new to the forum so need to get my posts up! Fitting is absolutely worth it if you have the time and money. I recently had an iron fitting at the Manchester Lane facility and in just a few rounds this year I can already see a huge difference in my iron play.

I’m new. I am a 40+yr. PGA Profesional and have to say that I try to maintain a game, but it’ll never be great again. I’m happy with 75 from the senior tees. My question is; I’d like to purchase Titleist Permasoft gloves. As a firmer Titleist staff member...do I have any discounts on gloves and balls ordered online. My son is a scratch golfer (or near that) and he uses Titleist balls and I use the balls plus we use the same size glove and use the Titleist Permasoft. Is there anybody to talk to? Or am I out of luck. I live in north central Ga., near No. Carolina and can’t find any Titleist gloves

Tel: 1-800-225-8500, ask for customer service. Were do you live in Georgia. Seems like N. central GA would be close to us here in S Carolina. Titleist has a huge presence in GA in SC. I play with a PGA Pro who works P/T at our local muni and he get's his products thru them because they are a Titleist account and he is an employee.

After checking the map more closely can see your problem. And yes N Carolina. Mountainous country from looking at the map. Probably not a lot of golfs shops in the area. Guess it would be a drive to find them. Really nice country up that way in TN, NC, GA, SC......

    In a word, yes.
  21. if you're gong to spend the money on new clubs then its worth it as its usually free so you may as well have it. So many places price match the online retailers so if you're not buying direct from titleist, and its not costing you anything then have it. it will be of benefit, for e.g. if you're not 5 foot 10, then you'll need to add or reduce the size of the length, that in itself will benefit you from getting a better strike by having the right length, if you tend to have the hands high and therefore the toe low then that too will also lend to hitting it to the right and that can be correct at a fitting by having a different lie on the club. all of it will allow for a more consistent strike and therefore better golf and more enjoyment with better scores
  22. Question for the Team, is it possible to schedule a fitting for just wedges? If yes, how much should I expect to be charged for the fitting. Not sure if my Vokey’s have the proper bounce for my swing.

Definitely get fitted for the right clubs. They will get you into clubs that have the right shaft for your swing.
