  1. Hi everyone. I’ve just been searching through my loft and have come across a brand new box of Titleist Tour 90 balls and another sleeve of 3. I’ve tried to find out some information about them but not really getting anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks

Me, Chuck, Don O, and a few other well seasoned TT members are very familiar with Tour 90's. They also sold Tour 100's, a slightly firmer and higher compression version. These are the old style balata covered balls with wound rubber band like material and a small liquid filled core center. They are nice for collecting but unlike the modern solid balls of today, they do not hold up to shelf life so not recommended for play. The rubber bands will shrink over time so they likely have shrunk a bit. Not noticeable by the eye but would slip through a ball retriever round sleeve or a measuring device. Balata covers also cut easily when hit with the leading edge, referred to in my day as "putting a smile on your ball". They were around in the 80's and replaced by the Professional, a wound ball that changed the cover from balata to urethane that only lasted I think, 2 years and then the ProV1 came out and solid core balls have lived on ever since.

  4. Amazing golf balls though

Can remember hitting a balata ball and seeing it grind to a halt
