Currently gaming ap2 714’s 4-P. Looking for a little more forgiveness BUT I have no issues getting the ball up. Have been looking between T200 and T100S. I’d like slightly stronger lofts than my current set which is why I’m not looking at the T100... any body else looking for a little forgiveness but doesn’t need help with launch have any thoughts?

As most others will say, go get fit. That said, if you are looking for more forgiveness, T200s would probably be better off that shelf.

Having played AP2 712s and AP2 716s for many years myself (and loving them), I can appreciate your position. I might recommend a combo set of T100S and T200. IMO, better control with short and mid irons, with more forgiveness (and yet, nearly as good control) with the T200s in the longer irons. And both models are stronger lofted than the AP2s. Ideal. (Just be sure to find the best shaft for your swing.)

Long time AP2 player and since 2 years T200. Very forgiving, long and players clubs.

If you need a little forgiveness, I would steer clear of the T100 or T100S. I (a +2 handicap) played AP2 714, then 718 and updated to the T100 and ended up going back to the AP2 718 because the T100 was dead on even the slightest off-center or high on the face strikes.

As for getting help with launch, the shaft is going to provide that. Generally, a slightly lighter shaft will launch the ball higher. I fit into the AMT shafts, and it does help with launch in the longer irons. If you're gonna spend the money on new clubs, you might as well get properly fit for them.

thanks, the launch is my concern with t200 because I'm a high ball hitter anyway... Obviously a proper fitting is the correct answer, just curious if i'm reducing the benefit of the 200 by lowering the flight with shaft....
  7. As a fitter, i would say 80% of the guys that say they hit the ball too high, actually dont hit it high enough. That being said, you may very well have a ball flight that needs to come down. A certified fitter will be able to see how and why your ball flight is too high - attack angle, launch angle and land angle are certainly things to check if you are in the right trajectory window and if a shaft change will get the desired ball flight. Get fit, most places are free with purchase anyways.
  8. I’m in a similar dispute. I have 716 AP2s but would like something newer. Question is does the T200 still have that buttery soft feel like the AP2?

The new T200s are forged, unlike the first iteration of T200s. I played forged AP2s (both 712s and 716s) until late 2019, when I switched to the T200s, which were not fully forged. Could definitely tellthe difference. They certainly weren't as "soft" feeling, but the extra forgiveness of the T200 in an AP2-sized head, along with the stronger lofts sealed the deal for me. At the time the T100S had not yet been announced. Now, with the new iteration of T200 being fully forged, and the forged T100S in it's second generation, a combo made up of both is a no-brainer for me.

I believe once you try the new forged T200, and see how they look and feel--and the results you get-- you too, will finally be able to let go of your AP2s, which up until now, were my favorite irons ever.
  10. I currently hit the AP2's - 710 DG 300S shafts. 58 yrs old. Used to get about 150 yards on my 8 iron, now down to maybe 143-145 on average. Have been thinking about trying the T-200's. Any opinions out there from other's around my age starting to experience a decline in distance? Thank you.
