I was just fitted for the TSR driver and fairway woods. I must say, they do not disappoint. I currently play a TSi3, 8 degree, Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black, 6.0.

These TSR's are gorgeous, and look better in person.

After warming up and establishing a baseline with my current set up, we started with the TSR2. I hit about 6 balls, and my face control wasn't "dialed in" yet (additionally it was 9am, a bit cool outside, and I'm 53). Missing it to the right, but did straighten it out. Club head, and ball speed were up, but dispersion wasn't great, and I wasn't crazy about the feel.

TSR3. It felt better than the TSR2. Club head and, ball speed up (ball speed up 2.5-3 mph). Felt better than the TSR2, and dispersion was better, but not great. It was a bit "spinny" at around 27/2800. No doubt I wasn't delivering the club great. My TSi3 is around 2400. Sound was muted a bit from last year's. They changed settings because I was getting a bit of a heel strike. Hit a few more, but still didn't feel like I was hitting it on the button. The guy said to just hang out in the hitting area, and stretch for a couple minutes while he made adjustments.

After stretching (much needed) he handed me the club. I hit the next ball... ball speed was up 3.5. Felt amazing, very solid, and sounded great. I asked what they did, and he said to just keep hitting. I hit 4 or 5 more. On the button, big carry, dispersion was great. I asked again what he did, and he said to look at the club. It was the TSR4. Blew me away. Had he told me it was the TSR4 before hitting it, I might have handed it back. It looks much better than the TSi4. Next to the TSR3 it looks similar (save for the slightly smaller head). He said they're calling it the "TSR3.5" because it's much easier to hit. My spin dropped to 2000 - 2100. I hit some more, ball speed was up 4 - 4.5 mph. I felt like a kid with a new toy. They said they are placing a LOT more people in the TSR4 than anticipated.

I hit 6 - 8 more balls with the TSR3 and my TSi3, and the numbers held up. Winner, TSR4. I'm ordering mine tomorrow.

For the TSR drivers the shaft was the new Project X HZRDUS Black 4G 60, 6.5. After deciding on TSR4 we tried a Ventus (blue?), very, very stiff... too stiff, and then something softer... a Fujikura, but didn't like that either. The fairway woods were awesome, too. I got my specs for the TSR2, 15, and 18 (same as my TSi2's), with the new Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 75 X-Stiff (it replaces the Tensei White Raw). I'm holding off on ordering the fairways for a few months. Actually, I'll probably wait for the hybrids to come out so I can test those, and gap my bag accordingly. I did hit the TSR2+. It's a rocket! I'm not sure if it fits in my bag, but we shall see. I'm glad to see Titleist release something new with the 2+. It was time.

I'm curious to hear if others changed to the TSR4.

    Cheers, E

Can you comment on where the TSR-2+ fits in the lineup? Haven’t heard it mentioned before. Is it a fairway only item?
  3. Military
    Sure!

The 2+ is fairway, and off the tee.

My TSi fairways, I started with the TSi3 13.5 degree, and 18 degree. I went to the TSi3 15 degree, then eventually the TSi2 for each. Much easier to get in the air.

That said, the 2+ is easy to get in the air for a 13 degree club (relatively speaking). Where I was fit, the turf was a bit soft, so not great conditions to hit it off the deck. I hit it off a tee, and it was great, very easy to hit. The fact it's a larger head than the TSi2 really inspires confidence. Personally, I don't know that I would hit it high enough off the deck on par fives. My 5 wood is a 240 carry, with great descent angle. I'm going to tinker with the TSR2+, and regular 3 wood, and figure it out.

    I hope this helps.

Intriguing. I’ll take the advice of the experts. My 18 TSi-2 hybrid can compete with my TSi-1 driver except when I hit a small sweet spot. Losing distance as smash factor/ball speed drops with the TSi-1. Hoping a TSR driver (2/3) will improve off center hits. Using a TSR-2+ fairway might be a driver replacement.
  5. Thanks for the in depth info on your fitting. It really helps me in deciding which version I will go with. Sounds like I will stay with the 4 version of the TSR series. I currently play the TS4 and even if its a bit harder to play, I love it when it connects between the screws. I like to say that it makes me focus a bit more knowing I have to hit the center club face. makes for a better ball striker.
  6. Military
Great point regarding focusing on the strike. I agree 100%.

Like I mentioned, I thought it was the TSR3 when he handed it to me. I tested TSi4 when fitted for driver about a year ago. It wasn't for me. Loving the TSR4! Besides the spin rate being great, Ioved the trajectory it has with my shaft pairing (low launch). Piercing ball flight and around 100 feet, if I remember correctly. I hope this was helpful.

I think you will be doing yourself a disservice if you only limit yourself to one model. From what I have heard the 3 is largely unchanged. The 2 and the 4 have had some changes to the better of the club.

The original post had a TSi3 and is going to a TSr4 and it mentioned, he never would have imagined going to the 4. I have a TSi3 and will more than likely go to a TSr2.

Try them all and be open to what the fitter suggests and what you like.

2000 RPM is too little spin, unless you have 190 ball speed.
  9. Military
My ball speed is 170-173. What do you recommend for optimal driver spin?
    Thanks in advance.

I was fit at Eagles Nest today. My current gamer is a TSi4.

My best numbers, believe it or not, was with the TSR2! 8 degree head with plus 4 gram weight installed, Ventus Black 6x 45”
    110Mph, 170 ball speed, 200 spin, 12.5 launch!

Unbelievable to get those numbers from a “forging” driver! Now I understand why your pros are putting in in the bag!
  12. Military
Sounds like it was a great fitting. Well done.
I'm curious to know what you thought of the shape of the TSR2, compared to the TSi2.
    Thanks.

  14. I am setup for a fitting on September 19 and looking forward to trying the new TSr drivers.
  15. I was fitted today for the TSR driver. I have been hitting a TSI3 9 degree with a Tensei Blue 55g s shaft standard length. Best fit for me was TSR2 10 degree with a Tensei 55g r shaft 1/2 inch shorter than standard at 45 inches. Significant yardage gains, ball speed gains, and much tighter dispersion. It should arrive witin two weeks. I can't wait to put it into play! I am 62 years old, 5.8 handicap.

I’m excited. Just signed up for my Titleist driver fitting in a couple of weeks, so this is helpful. I currently play a SIM2, and haven’t played a Titleist driver since my 910 D3!
  17. Military
Had my fitting with the Titleist drivers and fairway woods. The drivers were nice, but I wasn’t blown away. Not getting any more consistency or distance then my SIM2 driver that I was fitted for last year. That said, I do love the looks much more of the Titleist drivers. Understated and slick…I really enjoyed the fairway woods though, which is what I was more in the market for. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a TSR 2+ for me to try…goal is to not carry a 3 and 5 wood and just carry one club to cover both when I need an extra wedge in the bag…

I just got fitted and assumed they'd suggest the TSR2 as I'm not the most consistent ball striker and the TSR2 is the most forgiving of the bunch. To my surprise, my fitter recommended the TSR4 for me so I went with my fitter's recommendation. This falls in line with what your fitter said in terms of "putting more people in the 4 than they have in the past". I'm still a little nervous but absolutely pumped for it to arrive so I can get in on the course!
  19. Thanks for the details.

Wow this thread is interesting! I went to get fitted today and TLDR: I've purchased a TSR4 with a Tour AD IZ 6X.

I spent lots of time this year at my local shop hitting TSi drivers waiting for the TSR to come out. Through all the trial and error my best distance and feel came from a TSi4 with the Tour AD IZ 6X demo they had. FYI I've only been golfing since Feb 2021. So I was rather surprised... but the TSi2 just would carry 10 yards less on avg. I could never get it to the same carry as the TSi4 could. Ball Speed and Club Head speed all down compared to the 4.
Plus I hated how ginormous the TSi2 head was at address...

Today I went in the store feeling like the new shape of the TSR2 and the technology, with the more forward CG, would be the one for me since I hit all over the face, not center like Titleist Marketing says the TSR3 is for.

All fitting was using my Ventus Black 6X at 45.5" I had just purchased, since they had not that much selection of shafts...like no X-Stiffs (why?!!! don't know SMH) After the fitting I had it cut to 45" which is what I normally play at. And put the Tour Velvet 360 on there, I hate the MCC it had on it.

My second drive with the TSR2 was money, dead center. I was like okay I'm done. But then everything started leaking right. Like different hole fairway right... I was like what the heck?.. the past two months I couldn't stop hooking the ball with my driver. But I got some good numbers to work with. I felt like it was good, and the new shape is definitely more appealing. I didn't feel like I had to swing a big barge at the ball.

Then he switched me to the TSR3. That thing was all over the map... I was hitting 20mm toe, heel, high, low... everywhere. Then the last 3 swings settled and hit some low draws. I just didn't feel like I hit anything good with the TSR3. The numbers compared to the TSR2 showed. Ball speeds were down, efficiency was down carry was all over the place and avg was down. I thought well that settles it... TSR2 or stick with my TS3. haha.

Then he put me in the TSR4 and something crazy happened. Yes, I was still all over the face. Yes, my swing was still garbage. But... the consistency was by far the best. I hit about 20 balls with the TSR4 and not a single one leaked right. In fact, they were all down the fairway with a dispersion that was half of what the TSR2 was. There were a few strikes that were like drop the club on the floor strikes and I didn't even try to look up at the screen, but when I did they had carried just as far and were in the fairway. I was shocked. The head did exactly what it was supposed to do. I was spinning 800+ RPMs less than the TSR2 and TSR3. The launch angle was actually a half a point higher than the TSR2 but 2 degrees lower than the TSR3. My carry and total yards were very consistent even with the inconsistent strikes. Much more so than the TSR2.

So I asked the fitter what he think and he said honestly look at the dispersion of the TSR4. It's really tight, I'd go with that. So I looked at all the yellow dots compared to the red and I was like wow... you're right. So I ordered the TSR4, but with the Tour AD IZ 6X that I fell in love with over the year. $200 upgrade when I couldn't find one less than $250 and I've been looking for 3 months. Which is why I pulled the trigger on this Ventus Black I found for $200!!! I figure which ever shaft I don't like I'll just resell it... for a profit! My gut is telling me the Ventus will be up for sale since I feel like it was launching too low. And the spin dropped as low as 1300 rpm which some how still carried 265yds on the Quad.

    I ordered:
    TSR4 Driver
    Orientation: Right Hand
    Loft: 9°
    Shaft: Tour AD IZ-6 (+$200)
    Shaft Flex: X-Stiff
    Shaft Length: -0.5"
    Shaft Tipping: Standard
Grip: Tour Velvet 360° Gray Flat Cap
    Grip Size: Standard Size
    Grip Assembly Option: Standard
Club Swing Weight Adjustment: +2 Grams
Club Center Of Gravity Adjustment: Back CG
Club Hosel Adjustment: A1 (Loft: Std, Lie: Std)

Here were the averages (approx. by my memory) of my fitting.

    TSR2
    Club Head Speed: 109 +/- 3
    Ball Speed: 155 +/-8
    Backspin: 2800 +/- 400
Carry: 270 (I had some at 255 and some at 280, it was all over the place)
    Attack angle: 3-4 degrees up
    Launch angle: 14.2
Contact: some 6-8mm misses heel/toe and up/down, most was 10-11mm.
Dispersion: I had balls go 60 yards right and hook 40 yards left

    TSR3
    Club Head Speed: 109 +/- 3
    Ball Speed: 145 +/-6
    Backspin: 2800 +/- 400
Carry: 260 (it was all over the place)
    Attack angle: 3-4 degrees up
    Launch angle: 16
Contact: some 20-22mm misses heel/toe and up/down avg around 8-10mm
Dispersion: We don't talk about Bruno.

    TSR4
    Club Head Speed: 109 +/- 2
    Ball Speed: 156 +/-5
    Backspin: 2000 +/- 300
Carry: 273 (Difference between the TSR2 and this was nothing was outside of 270-285)
    Attack angle: 3-4 degrees up
    Launch angle: 14.8
Contact: some 6-8mm misses heel/toe and up/down, most was 10-11mm.
Dispersion: Around 20yds right to left.

Just fit today! Coming from a TSi3 9*, A1, +4 weight H1, 45" Ventus TR Blue 6x, MCC White Midsize. Just was fitted into the TSR3 8*, D1, +4 weight H1, 45" Graphite Design AD UB 6x, MCC White +4 Wraps. A little nervous about playing 7.25 loft but it gave me the best launch and spin numbers, I can always go A1 and play it at 8*.

It just felt and sounded better than my TSi3. Hopefully the 3 week lead time is accurate so I can play it in Minnesota before the courses shutdown in late October!

I was scheduled for a TSR fitting today through Golf Galaxy with a local Titleist Fitter. I was excited to speak with the Titleist rep and get a good feel for these new metal woods. I get a call about 20 minutes before my appointment that the fitter was running late. No big deal we have all had life happens issues. I show up at the new time and my fitting was done by one of the GG staff. Kind of bummed but was still interested in hitting the TSRs. I won't go into my thoughts on the fitter, since this is not the place for it.

As far as the new metals go, WOW. I was very impressed. The look of the TSR2 is much more traditional and the feeling was just awesome. Not sure if I will commit as I didn't see any dramatic gains from the TSi2. My club head speed was a little faster with the TSR. I am looking forward to getting a demo to take on the course and truly see the gains. Another win for Titleist.

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of my TSR2. I had a fitting a week or so ago now. My fitter did think that there was a chance that it might arrive tomorrow but equally, if it is next week, I am not overly fussed as I am being dragged away on holiday for a few days.

I had gone in with a TS3 with a Project X Even Flow White in the bag. Based on that, it was a natural progression to begin with the TSR3. We got some baselines and then popped my shaft into the TSR3 and it was much the same as what I had gone in with already. Arguably it was a little more consistent on off centre hits but nothing that was hugely noticeable in a test off the course. The thing that seemed like a big difference to me was the distribution of the weight in the clubhead. Now I am sure that it was just me but even with a lighter weight in the back to me, it just felt like everything was in the back and for my feels anyway, the clubhead didn't feel as balanced as I would want it. Absolutely certain that it was just me and what I am used to and I would have gotten used to it but I just didn't love it. That said, we then tried it with the Tensei 1k Black and the Hzrdus Black 4G. Feel wise, I was impressed with the Hzrdus, certainly for my money a huge improvement on the feel of previous iterations but whilst they were both OK, there was a noticeable drop off when it came to off centre strikes. I like to play a cut off the tee and I found it hard to get that working consistently. It would start left where I like it but not come back in a regular way even with chopping and changing SureFit, etc. The conclusion that we came to though was that that in any combination it was not going to kick my TS3 out of the bag.

Given the way that I was feeling with the weight and what not we then thought that it would make sense to play about with the 4. With that, regardless of the shaft that we had in it, it was not getting any further than my TS3 unless I caught one out the middle with absolutely no spin at all. That lack of spin meant that even decent hits were falling out of the air much quicker than anyone would want and my usual cut just wasn't there. As such, pretty quickly, it was a no go.

We then moved onto the TSR2. Prior to heading down I had of course heard some great reports as to how improved this was over the TSi2. I never had any experience with the TSi2 but had tried the TS2 and before that I had been in a 915D2 and 917D2. I really liked the shape of the TSR2. In terms of footprint it seemed to be fairly similar to my TS3. A little longer at the back but not in a huge way. The balance of the clubhead to my feels, was much better that the TSR3. With the new shafts in there it was a match for my TS3 in terms of distance but definitely more forgiving. We then put my Even Flow White in there and it just clicked - I was getting an extra 5-6 yards on average and the dispersion was tighter and my cut was just there. We were able to make that even more consistent by popping the SureFit hosel to D1 taking the loft down to 8.25. The combination of TSR2, Even Flow White and D1 was what the kids would call "money". The only thing is that Titleist are only offering the Even Flow White in 85 which is not for me so we have ordered it with the Tensei 1k Black and I will just switch that out for my current shaft when the driver comes in.
  25. Went today and was fitted for the TSR4, Xstiff shaft. Club head speed was average of about 118 and I was carrying the ball 295-300 yards. Can’t wait to play some golf with this new driver. I have always bought stiff shafts not knowing that I needed xstiff, I really hope it performs as it did on the simulator and gives me more control that I’m looking for to shape the ball accurately. Ordering a set of T100 irons tomorrow as well! Heck yeah, been hitting AP2’s for probably 10 years. Can’t wait
