  1. Any feedback from anyone playing the Aeotech Steelfiber i80cw shafts, I'm in between playing the Project X io 5.5 shafts and thinking of switching to the Steelfiber i80cw, been getting sore every every round lately .

I know a few playing Aerotech Steelfiber shafts but they were properly fit for them. Just because a shaft works for one person does not make them the best for everyone. I play MMT graphite shafts due to arthritis issues, used to play the Tensei red graphite. I always work with my fitter on what I need, not what my buddies are playing. Good luck and hope you get dialed in on what fits your specific swing.

Do you really notice a difference with the graphite shafts? I always liked the feel of irons with steel shafts, but now have arthritis in my left hand that sometimes makes it feel like somebody twisted my thumb backwards when I make contact. Next fitting I plan to inquire about the graphite options to see if it helps. Curious if you are able to get close to the same performance (with an age buffer) and reduce a bit of the pain.

Ha! As if age isn’t the biggest variable….

As I’ve moved to the MMT shafts with Gen 3 irons, my performance has improved, but likely more from a fitting to better match me. I’m fortunate with no serious issues with arthritis other than discomfort in my knees getting the ball out of the cup.

I would expect with all the shaft offerings from graphite to steel fiber, you and your favorite fitter can find a combination that works as well or better than your current gamers and puts a little less stretch on your joints. No question that graphite absorbs more shock than steel. The MMT shafts would be an issue if your 7 iron head speed was 90mph. I’ll take the under on that.

Anything to keep making the game enjoyable.

It helped my tennis elbow, that's for sure

Yes Barry, I definitely can tell the difference. I kept steel in my Vokey wedges but went light weight AMT Red so the overall swing feel would not be as drastic between my irons and full wedge shots. Works for me.
  7. The steelfibers are great if you’ve never played graphite and want more of the steel like feel.
Paderson Kinnetix are some of the best graphite shafts I’ve experienced with but you likely won’t find them in a fitting session. Golfworks usually has them though if you like to tinker on your own.
Not graphite, but the Nippon 950 gh’s are great lightweight steel shafts and also feel terrific….especially with prosoft inserts. Just some food for thought if you’re just looking to go lighter and still desire consistency. Lots of quality lightweight steel on the market.

I switched out the spec steel shafts on my Vokey wedges to Aerotech Steelfiber cw70. They are excellent. Great feel and dispersion and completely eliminated my golfer’s elbow pain. I was fitted for the MMT’s on my new T250 launch spec irons. They are a good fit and highly accurate.
