On the morning on July 16th, 2021 my friend Max and I decided to play a round. Our tee time was 6:45 AM at Mainland Golf Club, Harleysville, PA. Our goal was to beat the blistering summer heat in Pennsylvania. I remember enjoying the beauty of the course and early summer day instead of concentrating on golf. Our ball striking was still on point though and we felt good. The miracle happened at hole number 4. A long 175 yard par 3. Pin position 2 which set the flag front-center of the green. As we approached the tee I said to Max, “We usually play this hole pretty well”. Max went first and hit an unfortunate bounce which landed 5 feet short of the green on the left. Next, I approached the tee with my 6 iron (Titleist T-100) and a Pro-V1 which coincidentally had a #4 on it. I remember my swing thought being “attack this pin”. I took a nice deep breath and let it rip. The ball flight was a nice slender draw up the right. I originally thought the shot had too much on it, and softly said “get down”, “stay”….I watched as the ball hit the green and bounced toward the hole. I thought to myself, great I’m on the green. Max said, almost immediately, “hey where did the ball go, did that drop? I can’t see it” (The par 3 was uphill and only the flag was visible.) My heart started to race. We hopped in the cart and as we drove up I couldn’t see a damn thing on the green. I walked over to the hole in anticipation and as I looked down into the hole, there it was. Nestled snug on the bottom of the cup. I turned around to Max and gave him a slight nod. Finally! My first hole in one. What a moment. It took us a few holes to calm down from the excitement. I had never had a hole in one and Max had never seen a hole in one. The funny part about that day is, Max shot an amazing 67 and holed out for eagle on the par 4, 15th. It was an amazing day, I will never forget. Thank you to Titleist for making that moment possible. I am truly a Titleist for life!
