  1. #8 is an uphill par 3, over water, protected by sand on 3 sides, with plenty of tree trouble as well! Needless to say it is my nemesis hole, requiring a well hit 7. To compound the issue my 7 and I have never got along, so bad I often thought there was an actual issue with the club not just the user! Over the years I have found even landing the ball on this fast elevated green is a win. Most days this hole has a 1 or 2 club wind with another club for elevation so I am thankful when I get to leave my 7 in the bag. Unfortunately, today was perfect and my usual tools would be over kill. I grabbed my 7, tee'd the ball, then pulled the tee and agreed to swing like I would any other time in the fairway (when I am actually in a fairway). I was happy with the swing and although you cant see the green I was confident it was at least on/on-ish. As we walked to the green everyone was claiming their shots but mine was missing. A brief moment of distrust came over me, "are you sure that is your ball, where is mine"? One golfer said "go check the hole", as we often do, but this time it was actually there! A Pro-V, found by ranger, given to me, remarked, dirty from a full round of golf. After all these years, finally the green's keeper cut the hole in the right spot! -RJS
