It was a regular Saturday WGA (Women's Golf Association) Playday at The Club of Pecan Grove in Richmond, Texas. It was terribly hot and humid, as is the norm for Summer, in the Houston Area. I was paired with two wonderful experienced and fun golfers. I'm a 24 Handicap, "Love the Game Struggling Golfer", who has played on and off for about 12 years. But, since retirement a year ago, I play 3-4 days a week now! Pecan Hole #7 is a tricky Par 3 over a pond with sand traps on each side of the green. In fear of the water, I generally use too much club, my 5 Wood, and go past the green, into one of the traps, or totally mishit and put it in the water. It was 122 yards to the hole, so I clubbed down to my 7 Wood, the perfect club for 120 yards. Head and shoulder down, I took a slow and steady swing. The ball, Titleist ProVl, flew beautifully over the water, hit softly on the front of the green, rolled toward the flagstick and disappeared! We raced up to the green, and the celebrations began! I have been blown away by all the texts, calls, posts and responses from family, friends and golfers. My husbands unforgettable comment was, "Well, that's one way not to have to putt." as putting is not my forte! 06-28-25 is now a Special Milestone Date for me as MY FIRST HOLE-IN-ONE! The best feeling in the world!
