I have been playing golf 50 years! I hit my first hole in one on a magical golf trip to north Ireland with my little brother and friends. After a beat down day due to strong winds we headed up hill carrying our bags to 14, 15 and 16 to hole 17. As I struggled up to 17....we could see the ocean and last two hotels. 17 was a PAR 3 153 years and 18 a beautiful finishing hole....the wind was blowing 35 to 40 mph in our face with a slight right to left pattern. I pulled out my driver and aimed right between the opening of the two homes that were on the Ocean and hit it as well and straight as i can hit a ball. It stayed straight initally, and everyone said how is it not moving towards the hotel. Then it started to move right to left toward the hole. It bounced and two said it went in the bunker. I saw it bounce and did not think it was in the bunker. walking down my brothers ball was in the bunker and the other two were looking to the left side of green in the gorse for their ball. I search over the green on the side of the green, walked towards the gorse and past the hole and looked in....there was a ball. I spun it and it was my ball. The group in front of us said they heard something hit the pin.....but thought nothign of it. It was pure luck of the Irish and maybe a little help from those up above! Magic! In Ireland with Brother....nothing could be more fitting!
