My first hole in one was memorable, not for the obvious reason. It was the first round of golf played with my son and daughter all together, as my daughter has just started to play golf this year! As we approached the 8th hole on my favorite course, Wander Springs in Wisconsin, on the Spring course.... my son decided to spread some family knowledge to his sister that there was a family connection to this specific hole. He asked her if she knew who in the family had aced this hole before, to which she replied, "Dad?" which I quickly replied "I'm never gonna get one!"....After a few guesses my son told her that my brother had aced this same hole several years ago (His only as well). Not more than a minute later, I was the first on the tee box, with my 8 iron, staring at the pin 138 yards out. The ball flew off the club, straight as I've ever hit an 8 iron, landed on the front of the green as we all watched it roll for about 2 seconds (seemed like 90!) as it disappeared into the hole! I stood in disbelief, as my son started pushing and trying to tackle me and I started yelling like I had just won the Ryder Cup! I ran (Maybe jogged trying not to pull a hamstring) to the green in excitement! Such a great moment to share with my kids! To make it more special, it happened on the birthday of my oldest and dearest friend who we lost a few years ago to brain cancer. I am getting the chills typing this! I will certainly never forget this moment!
