    Hi all,

A group of us are coming down to Coachella Valley in May for a golf week. We were down last year and played a bunch of great courses but they were all resort style courses.

Can anyone recommend some good desert style courses?

In terms of public courses, I’d put Desert Willow right up there with any of them.

Mission Hills North. Been to several resort courses, but like the North course. No fancy clubhouse, restaurant, locker room, etc. Just good golf.

Is Mission Hills a desert style course?

Not sure what you consider desert style. Is there cactus surrounding the fairways? - No. Several holes kind of have that open air look of the desert courses. If you're going for a week, give it a go and see what you like. They're a good bunch of guys and a great course.

Pretty much can't go wrong with any course in the area. Desert Falls has a slope rating of 145 from the back, 7000+, Escena and Cimarron are a couple that haven't seen mentioned previously.

Easier to find “natural terrain” around Vegas than Coachella Valley - for golf courses.

Desert Willow, Classic Club.... And you must get your teeth kicked in at The Stadium Course!
  12. Let me add my vote for Desert Willow, Mission Hills North (aka Gary Player course), Silverrock and my favorite PGA West Nicklaus Tournament.

Desert Willow has become pricy the past few years, but the Firecliff course is a good challenge and always in top condition. I can’t believe the local high school uses this course as their home course and Palm Desert residents get a sweet deal
