hey there Cris, I've done a few solo trips, as I'm sure LOTS of the folks on here have. Do you have a more specific area you're talking about that maybe we can all give recco's for?

If you/they are trying to save the money, then booking your own "most" times is easier and more affordable. If you're talking overseas, or courses that are hard to get onto on your own, then a golf concierge type group might fit for you!

Steve, absolutely, myself and another guy on the am circuit come down that way quite a bit! Same if you'd want to head up the valley as home is a decent track and buddy can also get into a couple up here from time to time (LV, SV)

many times, I'll travel early or stay late with meetings around the country for golf. Haven't had trouble getting tee times, either. I'd suggest figuring out some areas/courses that you want to hit, find out about tee times and book the trip. The course will pair you up with people. Even if not the best pairings, you're with them for 4 hours or so, but you experience courses that you want to play.

Maybe after a trip or two (and posting & texting pics), your friends will want to enjoy the fun.

One motto that I've enjoyed is if you wait for others to do things, you'll get to a point in life where you look back and realized that you didn't do anything.

I have done many solo golf trips over the years. I did St. Andrews by going during the St. Andrews Golf Week sponsored by Links Golf. Lot of other solo golfers and they pair you up differently each day so you end up meeting a lot of people. Same for Team Titleist events. Look at the "events" tab and find one you want to play at. Sign up and you will get a chance to meet other TT members and maybe find a future travel partner.

My wife and I love to travel and made the agreement when we first got married that would be the thing we would do during our marriage. I do my golf trips and on occasions when we travel, if it is a trip where a great course might be available I take my sticks. Call on the phone when we get to the destination and see if they can hook me up and have never had an issue. Might have to go out early but have met some really nice folks from other states like myself as well as locals where I was playing. Do not mind meeting and playing golf with new people. Hakuna matata and have had a blast. Just go and have fun.

Same situation. Can't get my buddies to commit so I venture out on my own. Solo trips are actually easier than you think. It's always fun meeting and playing with different people, and as long as you're flexible with tee times, there always seems to be a spot for a single player. While some courses will not let you make a single tee time, many times I just show up and ask for the first opening available and head for the practice area and wait. Most of the time it's a short wait for the call, as there always seems to be someone who couldn't make it that day. Have fun out there.

I do a few short excursions annually by myself. I'm a book worm, so I'll tee it up 7 AM and be at the spa in the afternoon. Turn off the phone, enjoy a few days to myself. My closest friends are pretty lame, or I should say cheap. Do your thing, send pictures, they'll wish they'd joined you.

As of right now, I am booked for a solo trip to Bandon next year. I may try to go sooner it just depends on work.

I hear ya, I was about to pull the trigger on a last minute trip to Rome for the Ryder Cup, but my gf couldn't go and I didn't want to walk around Marco Simone/Rome by myself.

I used to travel for work all the time and the clubs came with me. I’d make sure my meetings were either early or late and I’d sneak off to play golf. Checked off some world class tracks and found some off the beaten path gems too.
If you’re interested, just go! Getting on as a single is pretty easy, and if you’re a member somewhere, you can usually talk your way into a reciprocal.

I drove to Daytona to visit friends, brought my clubs and played Sawgrass on the way. Had a tee time at the Dye course but told the starter I wanted to play Sawgrass. Had breakfast and he paired me up with a threesome. And yes, I dunked my tee shot on 17!

The big advantage to going solo is getting on by just showing up. I’ve played both Torrey Pines courses multiple times and never paid the booking fee. Just the greens fees. Resort courses do require advance planning, but even Pinehurst #2 was easily scheduled. Another approach for the Old Course is to stay at the Old Course Hotel. There is a daily lottery for like 80 golfers. The Hotel will pair you up with another single to be in the pairing openings. You won’t know until the day before. Tuesday and Wednesday are likely better choices than Friday & Saturday (closed Sundays). Got the Old Course the first day and no issues playing the New Course as a single. This was pre-COVID so contact the Hotel for an update.
Haven’t tried Pebble Beach - otherwise can’t remember not getting on as a single and have taken clubs on dozens of business trips. Both in US and GB and Ireland.

Solo golf trips are a blast! ️‍♂️ Any solo golfers out there with tips or recommended travel groups? I've got a list of courses, but my friends are budget-focused.
