  1. Traveling to Atlanta at the end of this week (8/17-8/21). Does anyone know if the East Lake pro shop is open to the public during the week/weekend? Would like to wander in there while I have some free time if possible.

Additionally, I'm on the fence about bringing clubs. I (might) have a day to get out and play. Any must-play public courses in the area that would make bringing the clubs worth it?

You need a clubhouse pass to get in. The pro shop itself wasn't that great, but the Bobby Jones trophy collection was worth seeing.

I was fortunate enough to get invited to a charity event there a few years ago. The clubhouse is amazing if you can get in. The pro shop like what Cris said isn't anything special. I have a yardage book cover and a few other things that were in gift bags.

The course though is no joke. The caddies were great though, probably saved me 5 or 6 strokes with the reads they gave.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to attend the tournament this year, any specific items I should look for at the pro shop? Really excited, also just got a black linkslegend bag is there anything there that could go well with it? Maybe a towel?

Z, I would recommend bringing your clubs to Atlanta. Echelon (old Georgia Tech Club) is a public course worth playing. It's about 45 minutes North. Another good one is Governor's Town Club in Acworth. Each will run around $100 but worth every penny.

Appreciate the recs! I did not take my clubs this time, but I have family that lives in the Chamblee area - so I'll definitely take them the next time we visit. We took the train from the airport to their neighborhood this time, so I didn't want to lug the clubs on public transportation, lol.

Drink plenty of water and bring plenty of sunscreen. Forecast for Saturday is 97 and plenty of humidity, so it will feel much, much worse. It's energy sapping. Really taxes your mental game in this heat to keep it together.

JWilliams gave a couple of good ones, I actually live in Acworth and Governor's is beautiful. I'm a member at Cartersville Country Club which is just a bit north of Acworth, Governor's as a member is bit more than my budget...
