Having some really odd games at the moment. Played Silloth on Thursday and was awful which was disappointing on such a great course. Then played my course today (Carlisle Golf club) and shot 73, 2 over gross which is -7 net.

I just don’t get this game sometimes ‍♂️

It’s definitely the most frustrating game ever invented haha
    I feel your pain.
We keep coming back for more punishment lol ️‍♂️
  3. Stephen,
It can happen within a single round - Played Thursday and was one over (gross) after 7 having spurned three birdie opportunities in the process. Hooked tee shot OB into the woods on the 8th for an ugly 7, then missed the green on 9th, 10th & 11th for bogies. Missed a long birdie chance on the 12th and bogied 13th & 14th. Found the left bunker on the 210yd par 3 with a 5 iron and couldn't get up and down but then managed to par my way in, missing another long birdie chance on the 18th.
Almost the round of a lifetime - well, mine anyway.... With luck and a following wind it could have been gross two over... maybe better...

It's why we keep coming back...

Earlier this month I played 3 consecutive days, +8 then -7, and finally +1... No difference in course or weather just GIR.

Worst I had was a couple of years ago, a Stableford comp in January with ground frozen. 13 points thru first five holes with partner struggling to make net pars. 6th tee is in the shade and I couldn't get a tee of any type in the ground. Finally a pink castle just about in the ground but so slippery underfoot and drive heads left into trouble.. next 13 holes 13 points...

The golfing gods just wasn’t with you that day unfortunately but don’t worry! Things do get better as your next round showed you. Keep plugging away pal.

I have only played Silloth once but its a great course. But i must say you need to know where you should be hitting the ball or it can easily destroy your game.

But in saying that I really hope I get the cahnce to play it again, soon.
