  1. Hi TT

I'm interested in seeing how long some of you have been loyalists to this great brand. For me, I first had a set of Titleist irons back in 2018 as an amateur and from then on I was hooked.

5 years on and I'm now a PGA trainee professional and my bag is made up of Titleist throughout (apart from putter). I've hit a few models of irons/woods from different manufacturers but in my opinion nothing quite compares to Titleist!

Anyway here's a picture of the current bag. It's a few years old now but I don't get as much time to play since I've started coaching. The plans are to update irons for next season and hopefully get out for a few more rounds!!

Let me know how long you've been playing Titleist for and what your current set up is.

    Cheers Mike

Congrats Mike. Nice set up. Yes, my first set of irons were hand-me-down Titleist blades in 1982 when that's all they made. I had a set of the original DCI's when they came out I wish I had held on to. Had the PT (Pro Trajectory) driver and pretty much every model after that. I have been an active TT forum member for about 5 years and try to attend as many events as possible. Currently playing TSi2 driver, TSi1 fairways and hybrid, T300 irons, vokey wedges, and Scotty GoLo 3 putter.

Mike, I have been playing Titleist for a long time (since the mid 70’s). It was always a great source of intrigue when playing a Titleist ball in junior competitions as my friends always wanted to know where I had got it from as they were not the most played ball then. Since then Titleist has always been in my bag. Currently play the Woods, irons, wedges and use a Scotty putter.

Pretty much been playing Titleist clubs since I took golf back up, 7/8 years ago now.
I did venture over to the dark side with a couple of other branded drivers, but they never stayed in my bag longer than a month haha
Titleist die hard and true loyalist now!!
The amount I’ve got the should make me a brand ambassador

The oldest Titleist club that I remember buying myself was the 910 driver but I do remember starting out playing with a set of DCI Oversize hand-me-down irons.

Since that day I’ve always had at least 1 Titleist club in my bag (and the bag itself has been Titleist for at least the past 8 years)

Believe it was around 2013 when i got a set of Titleist AP2’s 714 then followed up with sone SM5’s in 2014.

Was never really into a brand just got fitted for what felt good for my game, but once i started to feel the difference in Titleist products it was pretty hard to change.

The SM5’s i could not change for a few years just loved them but had to go in the end as there was no life left in them lol but do still own them.

Titleist products have given me a lot of confidence in golf and i cant see that changing.

Started playing golf in 1995 out of college, but didn’t play my first Titleist until 2003, a 983K driver, loved that thing. Hit miz irons for years, they make a great iron, until the 718 AP2’s, now hit the t100s, some of the best irons I have ever hit. Full bag of Titleist now along with a Scotty Cameron and the Pro V1x. You can’t beat a Titleist!!!
  8. One of my pals still has the SM4's, they've got a perfect 2p wear mark on the centre of the face he's had them that long! Says the same thing that he can't bring himself to change them yet.

Wow I’ve been playing a titleist since 1998
The first was a 975d and few vokey wedges. I then got a scotty putter. My first set of iron was 731 PMs which I still have and I’ve always played a pro V1. I’ve since had 915 ts3 and now tsi 3 a full set of vokeys and still got a scotty.
Your bag looks good man and keep up with the coaching hope it all works out for you.
  10. Love the vokeys and will do, thanks man!
  11. Love the vokeys, and will do. Thanks man!

    Lethbridge,

My very first set of Titleist irons were Acushnet blades. I then went away from Titleist for a period of time, I still don’t know why I did that. Then in 1999 I returned with a set of DCI 981’s and have been Titleist since. Presently I have a full bag except for the putter. TSI3 driver TSI2 3 wood and 7 wood an H2 hybrid and T100s irons, SM9 wedges in 50,54 and 58 lofts. Love all the clubs and looking forward to testing the TSR driver. Oh and left dash ProV1x
  13. I had DCI 981 irons back when I was in my late teens and slowly ended up with a full titleist bag. After a while in my early twenties I changed to other brands, but kept a Scotty Cameron in my bag from about 2008.

When it came time to change my wedges a few years back I switched to SM7s and titleist has slowly started to take over my bag since. Only the driver and irons now, but I think I may end up with titleist irons again for the first time since my DCI’s next time.
  14. Errrr.... Hard to say.... Started with a simple Bullseye putter in the dim and distant 1980's. After some messing about mixing brands but usually having some bits of Titleist in the bag (you're allowed to make mistakes when you're young) its been a full bag of Titleist for the last 15 years. Only lapses have been when I've had a bad trot with the putter and have searched for something (anything!!) to break the cycle but I've learned the error of my ways now. I've come to accept that it is usually the archer not the arrow and go from there.
    Currently using TS3 driver, TS2i 3w + hybrid, T-MB 4iron, T200 irons (5-GW), Vokey 52 & 60 and a Scotty SE Flowback 5.5.
The only thing due for upgrade is the driver - come on down TSR - though that might make me ponder the other woods... and the 4iron is on borrowed time... I guess I'll just keep evolving.

  15. Thanks for the reply JT. I think I'll be tempted to put the TSR in the bag when I can get my hands on it (even though I said I'd wait!). Really looking forward to hitting it.
  16. Thanks for the replies guys! Really interesting hearing about your setups/years playing Titleist.

the release of the original AP2 (i think it was in 2008) was what made me switch to Titleist, followed by the 910 in driver, fairway, hybrid.
    after many alteration, now i carry a TSi3 driver and TSi3 fairway, T200 Utility, T200 4&5 (2019), and T100s 6&7&8&9&PW (2019), SM9 wedges and Scotty Cameron Putter.
  18. I have played titleist in some form for the whole of my golfing life- roughly 2000-, never had the full bag until 2014 though. Now don't look at anything else!

I have played Titleist since about 2000, when i purchased a set of 990's, although I did have a set of Acushnet blades for a short period.

I must admit , I have wondered a few times but I already return.

I wont say I purchase new set ups every 2 years but over the past 20 years I have purchased a new club, irons or wedges near every year. A new set of wedges are next on the list.

Throughout that period, I have played Titleist balls, right back to mid 80's with the balata balls that lasted a round if you where lucky.

Cool to read how long everyone has been bagging Titleist clubs.

My first Titleist club was a Scotty Cameron Tel3 (inspired by Tiger). It was in the Pro Shop at my Club, it was second hand but in mint condition. I was a kid, so I saved up my pocket money for weeks to get it. My mum had actually spoken to the Pro who had agreed to put it aside for me until I was able to save the money up. That was 1999.

Shortly after that for a joint birthday/christmas present, I got a 975D driver and my obsession with Titleist went from there! I eventually got a summer job in the pro shop which lead to a set of 990B's, Vokey Wedges before Uni and since then, I think my exhaustive list is:-

    Drivers
    975D
    975J-VS
    905R
    909D3
    913D3
    915D2
    917D2
    TS3
    TSR2 (on it's way).

    Fairways
    904F
    906F
    910F
915Fd (not sure anything will ever replace that).

    Irons
    990B
    AP2 (Original)
    714AP2
    T100

    Wedges
    Tour Player Forged DL3
    Vokey 260.12
    Spin Milled (Original)
    SM3
    SM5
    SM6
    SM7
    SM9

    Putters
    Scotty Cameron Tel3
    Scotty Cameron Studio Select
    Scotty Cameron GoLo 5S
    Scotty Cameron Futura 5S

That should just about do it...I think!

Since way back in 1995 I think it was, got my first set of DCI Black......then DCI 990's and held onto them for years......AP2's when they were released first and currently gaming AP3's.
  22. I have been playing Titleist golf balls since I first broke 70 as an 8 handicapper back in 1985 (69 net61) .
The future Scottish Amateur Champion who helped me out that day with encouragement and a couple of freebies stated , Titleist DT is a very "reliable" golf ball and handed me a sleeve of 3.
When I got down to 1 I had graduated to 384 balata 100 compression , and all of my club championship wins , amateur open wins and club medal wins to this day , 37 years later , always have been with their flagship ball
    My current irons are CNCPT 03 vokey 60 lob wedge , TS3 19 hybrid and 917 3 wood .
Had a fitting and the TSR3 with 50g project X shaft , its on the wish list now (+14yards carry . -2 roll)
When you see how other ball makers have to pitch their products against the prov1 to say how good they are now , all I think is that they were happy to sell sub-standard before so what's changed ?
When you see how the sublime program of Titleist iron , fairway wood and now driver technology is progressing , not shouty loud , clean sharp lines , agreeable asthetics, the only thing needed is a more durable paint finish on the drivers .
Keep up the good work Titleist.
  23. Bought my set of DCi 990’s about 20 years ago and still going strong. Just joined the Scotty Cameron putter club with the Newport Select 2 which is an incredible putter - absolutely love it. About to add 56 and 60 degree vokey wedges to the set up. Used Titleist golf balls pretty much since I started playing 35 years ago.

    For me it’s been years.
All the way back to the JVS driver and 990 irons.
    Played Titleist ever since.
JVS driver with a pro launch shaft was one of my favourite drivers. I could hit that beaut for fun.
Keep doing what you do TT.
    You are the best.

  25. My dad would take me down the driving range when I was about 8. This was in 1990. He got a set of Titleist DTR iron and metal woods fitted at that time, as I outgrew my cutdown ladies clubs, I'd sometimes use his shorter irons. Fast forward 30ish years and I've returned to golf. I've borrowed those original DTRs that he still had and they feel so lovely and familiar (everyone I play with comments on how nice they sound!). He's now using AP2s and I'm gradually working out where my game sits and what my next (Titleist) set should be!

    Great Question Mike,

I had a few sets as a junior from 1982 Lee Trevino being the first
Golden Ram Frequency matched(wish I still had them)
png beryllium, Maxfli but to name a few.

First Played Titleist DTR irons as a junior in I think 1988, had DCI Golds & 981s.
    2004 690 CB
    2008 ZM
    2012 + 2014 MB/CB combo
2016 716 TMB Imported(Awesome irons) Probably my favourite to date.
2018 AP2 bit of a let down compared to 716 TMBs
    2020 Black T100s cracking clubs
2021 T100s (current gamers) love them
Had the old Titleist metal woods but really from 983K I had a new Titleist driver every two years.
Current TSR3 is the best driver I’ve hit(hats off to Titleist).
Vokeys since the the old spin milled rustys and Scottys since around 2005.
    ProV1X Yellow is my ball.
Quote : All the gear, no idea.
Always change every two year as per Titleist irons or woods, I like shiney new toys.
I will never goto the dark side of the likes of traitormade
