Hi all - haven’t contributed for some time, however it’s amazing how much you miss the game when forced out through injury!!

As the title suggests, I broke my leg slipping on some ice just before Christmas. Left leg below knee, tibia broke at the bottom - compound fracture so came out the skin, fibula shattered into 5 pieces. I now have two pins and a pretty sizeable metal plate.

On the mend and feeling positive, now 2 weeks into physio and partially weight bearing.

Physio mentioned that I should be able to get into a golf position 16 weeks post op which takes me to around mid April, but it’ll be a while after that until I’m playing a round.

Was really hoping to hit the course hard this year so it’s all a bit frustrating. Does anyone have any similar experiences?

Wishing you a speedy recovery. The older I get, the more I think about how easy it is to have a single injury take us away from playing this game. Last winter I missed a month with removal of a cancerous right kidney. Right rotator cuff forced me away from another month of summer play. Overall I have been pretty fortunate not to miss more from injury but am making the most of my opportunities to play now because we never know what tomorrow will bring.

Had a hip replacement in December but that's nothing compared to your situation. Doctor won't release me until 12 weeks post op which is the second week of March. Then I will be visiting family the next week, so no golf until around the 25th. Am really itching to play. You can only chip and putt so much. Anyway, best of luck on your recovery. Do what your physio and doctor say and it should go by quickly.

My best wishes to you for your recovery. I smashed all three bones in my right elbow as a teenager on a school ski trip and it cost me an entire summer of golf. I still can’t fully straighten it nearly 30 years later but it doesn’t seem to affect my game too much…or does it?
  8. Hi, im just back playing after over a year out. I snapped my ACL and MCL ligaments in my knee so had to have them replaced. I started back with a lot of chipping and putting for the first few weeks and built up to a full swing. first few feel really weird!
  9. Your leg sounds nasty
Many years ago I snapped off my right wrist and it was in plaster for 3 months and I never hit any balls for 7 months
If anything it gave me even more control of the golf club when I returned
Luckily I had no lasting damage either
