  1. So in this fad of mini drivers, has anyone thought about or actually gone down the route of cutting their driver down to see if it helps with accuracy? I've been sampling in the market of mini drivers but I'm thinking what would happen if I cut my GT3 driver shaft down and altered the weight to suit, would it work as well? Thanks

My driver, and irons, are fitted half inch shorter anyway. Weirdly my 5 wood is standard. Go figure.
Has it improved strike? Yes. Have I lost distance? Not really.

It’s pretty common for fitters to use different length shafts when fitting customers. I know of several people that were fit one inch shorter. That’s the best way to know instead of cutting down as adding back with shaft extension is not ideal in case it doesn’t help you.

Hi Craig, When I was fit for my TSR I said to the fitter, I'm ok with distance but just want tighter dispersion. He put a club in my hand and it worked, tried all other variation but when back to first one. it was 1/2 inch Shorter.

Craig, my driver shaft is an inch shorter than standard. I find the middle of the face more often and never noticed a drop in distance. I’ve been playing a shorter driver length since 2016 and for reference I am 5’11 in height so not short. I also have shorter fairway woods for the same reasons
  6. I cut mine down by two inches. Best thing I ever did. Dispersion is far tighter. No real loss of length off the tee, being shorter makes it easier to find the sweet spot. One word of advice, you may need to alter the weight in the head due to the shortening altering the swingweight.

Not the most accurate trial, but I tried holding down on my shaft for a while which helped reduce a lot of my miss hits so I had 1 inch taken off the shaft when it was getting a new grip fitted.

My GT2 driver is .5 shorter and GT2 3 wood and GT2 both hybrids are -1” shorter.
I was custom fitted at Titleist Craigielaw and these helped / worked well with my swing.
Definitely better dispersion for me and distance still 250/270 yards with big dog. ️‍♂️
  9. Thank you all for the replies, I am taking an inch off the driver shaft this weekend to see how we go.....I should add I have ordered a backup shaft in case of it not working out!!! Thanks again.
