  1. Fellow golfers, as I've aged to 73, my swing speed (65-70) and strength have diminished considerably. I would like to replace the steel shafts in my SM5 and SM6 wedges with graphite. Recommendations? I'm blessed with the 48, 52, 54, 56, 58 (I couldn't choose which I liked best!). Instead of replacing with graphite, does it make more sense to just buy a few SM8s with graphite shafts? Thanks for your input.

  2. I am not far off your age with a swing speed in mid 80's and have used graphite shafts in irons and wedges for many years. I was interested in a matched set of Vokeys but could not get a Vokey fitting for graphite shafts so eventually decided to just order SM7's in 50.08F, 54.08M and 58.08M all with Recoil F4 graphite shafts I use in miz JPX900 irons. When I got them I found they were great for full shots but for touch shots around the greens I could not adapt to the weight of the head which I found far too heavy for my liking and very different to my previous wedges with the same shaft. In the end I had them rebuilt by a local clubmaker to D2 swing weight and they now feel much better. I notice Recoil shafts are no longer listed but I would recommend you first test the wedges with the shaft you want before you make your final decision.

How about the Tensei Red Iron shafts in the A flex ?
